Difference between Virgin Upper Class Flexible and Upper Class Lowest
Hi there
I'm new here and I joined to ask this question:
I've never flown first class on Virgin Atlantic, and I'm wondering what the difference is between Upper Class Lowest and Upper Class Flexible
There is a huge difference in price, and if the main difference is just the limousine shuttle service and a flexible ticket, then I'd fly first class on the lower fare.
(I'd be interested in flying from SF to London Heathrow, if that makes a difference).
Do you still get first class seats, access to the clubhouse, and all other special things that come with first class?
Thank you much.

First of all Virgin's Upper class is not First Class, it is Business Class.
You are looking at the difference between a flexible J class fare with CDC and the ability to change dates without penalty, and a Z class with no CDC and very limited flexibility.
See V-Flyer fare codes page, for a full explanation.
If you are a leisure traveller with fixed dates, then IMHO there is no point paying the massive differential just for a CDC.
You still get Clubhouse and Revivals access and all the other UC 'extras'.

Z tickets (typically "Upper Class Lowest", and one of the most popular types of Upper Class tickets) do NOT come with the car service.
Also, note - it's not a limo in the UK, it's a Volvo

Yes, you only get the limo/volvo on the highest paid tickets (J and D ?). The drive-through check-in at LHR is great but not worth the extra thousands compared to a Z fare. (and you can still use the Upper Class wing at heathrow anyway - you just take the lift next to check-in)
The only other difference is you will earn more flying club miles now on a full-fare UC compared to a discounted fare. Otherwise I think everything is the same.

Reconsider VS - the food, seat and service are way below par of a first rate carrier J class in relation to fare paid, in either discounted or full UC fare.

I just got off from LHR - EWR and I must say service, food and seat was great the thing's I didnt like was that the gate closes 30min prior to scheduled departure and that the club house was so far from the gate

The ground services at JFK and LHR are oustanding , I would much rather
have some drinks and a pretty good meal before my flight and then sleep on the plane .
The seat recline is kind of limited unless you flip it over into flat bed mode.
The one thing that I did not like was the overhead reading lights, they have been disabled and you have to use the small seat light which does not provide enough lighting for me .
