Cert Upgrade Queue
I got on the waiting list for a domestic upgrade using 500-mile certs, and included my non-status mother. We're on separate Orbitz record locators, but sitting in adjacent exit row seats per my status. Will the upgrade pecking order for both seats be determined by MY status, fare paid, and time reserved? How about if I try to combine the records (but she's returning on a different flight).
Thx much for info. |
Unless you are both on the same PNR and clear prior to the Departure management list going to the gates hands you may as well forget it. Even when you are on the same PNR it is hard to upgrade once it reachs the gate. Just my two cents worth, without being on the same PNR your mother has about a snowballs chance in hell of getting an upgrade. Welcome to the new UA. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

The records cannot be combined.
If your Mother is not travelling on the same flight back she will not qualify to use your 500 milers unless she has paid full fare. |
This is still one of the things most in need of attention. I don't understand why you can upgrade a travelling companion on the same PNR if the U/G clears in advance but the companion's U/G is based on his/her own status at the gate. It didn't used to be that way. Several times I've had to turn down U/G's because my wife or daughter's wouldn't clear. On the other hand, once or twice a GA has bumped my daughter up the list to U/G with me. It should be handled the same at the gate as a matter of policy, though.
