JFK Security
 

I will be taking the 7AM JFK-SFO flight in a week or so connecting to KIX. Do I really need to be at JFK at 5AM for this flight? How are the lines/security in terminal 6 for the LAX/SFO flights?? Is there a 1K/1P line at JFK for security?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

1. Will you be checking bags?
2. Do you have status? If yes, the Premier line was a lot shorter than the non-Premier line.

I did the JFK / LAX flight last week. I didn't check bags. The security line took me a very slow 30 minutes. Why you ask? The United people were letting the last minute passengers from the 8:00am Puerto Rico flight cut the line! I wasn't happy.

Is there a 1K/1P line at JFK for security? No.

So I ended up with 1 hour at the RCC instead of 90 minutes!

Thank you for the response. I will be going to KIX so yes I will be checking luggage. I am a 1P (Premier Executive). The thought of going to the airport at 4AM just gets me!!

Unfortunately I will be in the air on November 30--US between ORD and PHL on my way home to ISP. I hope you all enjoy the Stage Deli!!

I would think UA check-in lines at terminal 6 should be very short; they abandoned the terminal in late September:

I have no experience with early morning check-ins so I will yield to Dan's experience. I usually show up at noon and the place is empty.

I've been flying from JFK to SFO a lot recently (yes, all UA flights are now at Terminal 7).
The problem: sometimes I'm there and the place is empty and other times it's packed.
Reason: all the international flights are at different times and it's just luck if you have hardly anyone there or a mass gathering.

Personally my longest wait is only about 30mins. Shortest was like 5mins.
BUT the stupid UA checkin counter line sometimes took about 25min+! And that was in the 1K/Premier Exec line! In fact, sometimes it's faster to just go to the economy lines around back...

Thanks for the information. I haven't flown from JFK in a while so I didn't know they abandoned Terminal 6. In checking my itinerary I see that it says T7. DUH.

Well my upgrade cleared for 3 of 4 segments-the hard one (always) will be KIX-SFO on a Saturday--it usually clears about 48 to 72 hours out.

Flew 7AM JFK-SFO on 11/17. Check-in on business line took 7-8 minutes. Security took about 10 minutes. I got to JFK at 5:30. Had plenty to time to spare at the gate.
