fare codes / fare rules
Does anyone know of a web page that could spit out the fine print for a given fare code ?
I know you can get it when you book a ticket but once its done it doesnt look like you can see the details again .... I booked a few weeks ago a trip with an LA3PN9 fare code IAD-SFO connecting in LAX ... I am trying to figure out if the farecode allows directs IAD-SFO (LAX being considered as a valid , less than 4hr, connection) or because it is dirt cheap it mandates a connecting flight .... I have noticed on my receipt that both flights IAD-LAX and LAX-SFO show the same farecode ... but I am not sure that this is evidence that this is considered a IAD-SFO with a legal connection allowed (but maybe not required ) by the farecode ... anyone knows ? I intend to standby for a direct flight and would like to know in advance if anyone is going to let me standby but only with the same routing through LAX. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions ! |
Have fun :)

The fare rules are also available via online ITA software (http://matrix.itasoftware.com).
After logging in, selecting your travel dates, and clicking on a particular itinerary, one can click on the "show booking details" link in the upper-left corner. In the booking details section that then appears underneath your itinerary, you will see which fare codes have been applied to generate the fare. Clicking on the "rules" link next to any of the fares will spit out the rules for the fare code of interest. |
ITA doesn't show permitted routings, though.

Since there are no additional restirctions on routing (e.g., not valid on nonstop flights), you should not have a problem. In fact I just priced a nonstop flight IAD SFO booked in L class and it gave this same LA3PN9 fare and fare basis. |
