.bomb?? Huh??
I'm sorry to ask what I expect is a trivial question by now. I did try doing a search for the term but all the threads I read use .bomb with the knowledge of what it is.
I've been able to figure out most of the acronyms here on my own but this one has me stumped. Can you tell me what it is? |
United.bomb is rhyming slang for united.com.
|
Help with other terms/acronyms can be found in the FT Glossary
(however .bomb is not there) |

"United.Bomb: A reference to United Airline's website - generally meant to be uncomplimentary." |

It took me a little while to figure out what it meant when I first joined as well. For my first week on Flyertalk, I actually thought it referred to a separate booking tool like ITA.
|
Thanks everyone for your patience while I "learn the ropes."
jtsaltman - I too thought it was a separate tool. I kept typing in things like "united.bomb", "bomb.united.com" and other variations. I was starting to feel like I was crazy. |

Maybe this should be a challenge to the newcomer :)
|
The name will make a whole lot more sense to the OP after he's used .bomb for a while.

roadkt - you're a bit late to the party.
gre- I've been using .bomb for several years, though not on the level as many of the people here. Did run into problems trying to set my preferences to Expert and view flight availability by fare class. Just ain't happening! |
Just remember .bomb is a FT specific term. Others will have no idea what it means. And especially remember not to use that term when you're at the airport. ;)

Remember that SWU and CR-1 was also FT specific term, yet I find agents understanding the term more often these days. |
