It is a slang term for United.com as the website has more problems than any other website

Welcome to FT

What is .bomb?

Total Newb question, I know, but I did several searches (both here and Google) plus looked at the glossary and still didn't see anything.

Can someone fill me in please?

The "pet" name for United's website, united.com or ual.com. The infrastructure, programing, layout, and booking functions on the website are known to frequently crap out, leading to innumerable and interminable error messages, warnings, and hair-rippingly frustrating obstacles to booking even the simplest of tickets.

.bomb aka united.com

Took me a few days to figure that one out when I first started on the site too ;)

But, trust me - you learn it very quickly, when trying to book your first many-segmented MR :D

My favorite one of these slang terms is Easy Chicken. A take off on the name Easy Check-in. When I was first on FT it took me weeks to figure out what it was.

"What is .bomb?"

"What?" indeed!:D

(...I know, I know, that's not particularly helpful, though otherwise apt, I think. And anyway, others have replied constructively.)

I rely entirely on 1K phone agents, I won't go near .bomb. But then again, I often have what I think may be untypical travel/routing/scheduling needs, and they likely wouldn't be all that much fun to resolve even WITH a well-functioning res system.

There is a glossary for some of the frequently-used terms in the United Forum; please see: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...ml#post5377535

What is ".bomb"?

I keep seeing reference to ".bomb". I did a search and could not find an answer. Probable a dumb question but what is ".bomb"?
TIA

A less than flattering reference to UA's website due to its many problems.

I had the same question...glad someone asked and another poster politely answered.

Happy to oblige. It's used enough that it probably should be in the Glossary in a "." section. :)

I had the exact same question just about a year ago...

.bomb is United's main site.

And in case anyone's still a little confused (as I was when I first started reading this forum)...

".bomb" is pronounced "dot-bomb."
