Is E+ on United Express E170 for real?

Last weekend for the first time flew in E170 to and from IAD on United Express. While seat maps and seat selection marks 4 rows as E+ - I did not notice any difference between those seats and usual E seats. In most other aircraft - I have been able to notice the extra legroom of E+ without having to take out a measuring scale.

Also - on other aircraft - E+ seats have signs saying those are E+ - not such signs on E170. So is E+ on E170 on UX for real? I did not pay to "upgrade" to E+ - but if anyone did - I am not sure they would find it any different that regular E.

Any thoughts?

You're absolutely wrong. The EMB 170 is one of my favorite planes. E+ has a generous 34" of pitch, and what's even better, the seat is wider than any other Y-class seat out there at 18.25.

I was comparing E and E+ within the E170 - E are certainly spacious than E in other planes in the fleet and loved being on the E170 compared to other narrow-bodies. My point was there doesn't "seem" to be a significant difference between E and E+ on E170.

Since I'm tall, I have to say yes.

3 inches difference between E+ and E. And for those seated in Row 3, more legroom than in Row 2 in First Class.

Yeah, I'll take my legroom however I can get it!

Cheers,

Indeed, I always go for 3B, or 3A.

Yes, and even better than F, in my opinion.^ I can't say whether or not there's a difference in E+, as I've never been past the bulkhead row.

I like 3A on that plane - plenty of legroom AND space for my laptop under the seat.
