SWU

A question, guys! I am new here.

I booked (and paid for it) SIN-NRT-SEA on C class on 2/27/01. I requested the upgrade to F using SWU. UA told me that NRT-SEA portion is confirmed but SIN-NRT is not. I checked the seat map and the First Class cabin is empty - there is only one First Class seat taken so far. Do I have to take any actions or just sit and wait to clear the upgrade?

Thanks

NC and NF seats are allocated based on inventory management. UA must think they can sell most of those empty seats prior to your date of departure.

As the date nears seats will probably be allocated to NF and released.

...and if you want a more detailed explanation of how this seat inventory is controlled, please visit the Upgrade Center section of The Unofficial United Help Desk.

This is the same "delayed" release of NF seats that happens to me everytime I do ORD-MEX.... I hate it because when Im coming from Europe/Asia and connect down to MEX I always have to argue with the agents about my SWU being collected or not... (despite my asking to have the collection documented in my PNR)....

I can relate on the ORD-MEX-ORD example. I booked my reservation from MEX-ORD (for this upcoming Saturday) almost 2.5 months ago. Asked for a confirmed upgrade then, and have checked back every few days since then. Still no luck.

The seat map does show the F cabin filling up, so perhaps UA revenue management has good reason not to make NF inventory available at many times between ORD-MEX-ORD. Oh well, I guess only time will tell.

Hope it works out.

I assume you guys got yourself onto the highest PA1 waitlist? That usually shakes things out a bit on It'l in my experience. But if you don't insist on it, you'll likely end up on PB1.
