That is VERY sad. :(

Except it's not on a whole lot of flights:

On October 1, we will proceed with the test of new, complimentary options for United Business customers on three-cabin aircraft used for domestic routes, which represents 16 daily flights.

And alcohol is still free in C.

Following the identical move by AA, so he basically got promoted for plagiarism...

Some would call it a quality improvement.

Which is really all that matters. Hell I would much rather have the Snack box on ORD-IAD vice-versa than the cruddy cheese plate.

Just give me my Heiny's and I will be happy :D

I wish they'd serve a decent beer. Heiny's tastes just like its name. (My friends from Holland refer to it as Dutch battery acid.)

I would consider a sandwich or entree salad to be a "real meal," but that's just me, I guess. Of course, that only applies to those flights where fresh food is catered.

Such a misnomer... battery acid actually has a useful purpose, and would probably be a better beverage.

What is truly sad is that compared to the other swill that domestic US airlines (including UA) call beer a Heiny is actually far superior

Does anybody know why the ORD-LGA, ORD-DCA, and ORD-IAD flights and vice versa are showing as S in First vs. B, L, or D? My guess was that <750 miles would mean S, but ORD-DFW shows B and D. Does that mean a fruit and cheese plate now in these markets?

That's correct, snacks on these flights from now on. See this thread.

Any idea which 16 flights / routes?

Occassional intra-hub routes. Off the top of my head, some impacted flight numbers would be:

UA 946/947 (IAD-LAX)
UA 902/903 (IAD-DEN)
UA 914/233 (IAD-SFO, occassionally)
UA 950/951 (IAD-ORD)
UA 722 (ORD-IAD)
UA 395 (IAD-ORD)

The rest would be the occassional ORD-DEN, DEN-LAX (none right now, I think), DEN-SFO frequencies operated by 3-cabin aircraft.

Chapel Hill Guy Oct 2, 2008 8:21 am

Also UA 867 IAD-LAX (just flew this on 3-class 767).

Yep, I was on this one as well. Cheese and crackers in a plastic box. :(

On the plus side, the aircraft was swapped out to a new config 767, so I got to try out the new C seats.

... and yogurt and some sort of breakfast danish / bread. That's what it sold in Y ... not just cheese and crackers.
