Any SJC based travellers think that the addition of the new terminal will pull UA flights back?

I would give it less than a 2% chance.

First flight to YXE was today from DEN:

Cutbacks at SJC

Not sure if anyone has posted but besides the cutting out of the SJC-IAD direct flights, effective Nov 2, SJC-ORD/vice versa is being cut out as well. All flights coast to coast will have to be via Denver only.

Yep, as you might imagine, this was one of many cutbacks. Here's a master list:

Same deal with OAK. Nothing left from OAK but a few tedmobiles to DEN.

All we're being left with are SJC-DEN -LAX (CRJ200) and -SBA (on EMB120).

If it wasn't for the beautiful drive up 280 to SFO, this would make me seriously depressed.

As if SFO-ORD flights weren't hard enough to upgrade already, now they are going to be nearly impossible for non-1Ks.

The cutbacks have hit SJC hard. Really unfortunate for those of us in the valley. Much easier airport to get to than SFO, especially for those of us reliant on the Caltrain.

You got that right; I was surprised to see the SJC-ORD flights cancelled. Those were the easiest to get upgraded, and even if not, you had a 320, which I find quite a bit more comfortable in E+ than the 757.

Pretty much scratches SJC off my list, which is unfortunate as far as upgrades, but not so bad as far as getting to the airport. SJC is a mess. Much better off-site parking at SFO, especially in the wee hours of the morning.

SJC must really be hurting these days.

SJC's own parking lot is quite far from the terminal, and the shuttle buses make many stops before going to the terminal. The quikparksjc.com DoubleTree Hotel lot is cheaper and closer.

hey count your blessings, at least you have direct to LAX and SBA. It has now become impossible for me to fly out of OAK, since all we have is DEN. Also the fares in general have been pretty high out of OAK so I find SFO to be the only option

SJC and OAK have fallen on very hard time. It is too bad that SJC-ORD got cut. Not surprised about the SJC-IAD. The only good thing is that UA is facing more lower fare carriers at SFO now to put some pricing pressure there that was gone after WN pulled out and before JetBlue and VA. AA pulled out of OAK, hopefully UA won't follow.

I have to say, out of SJC I find myself more and more on US. Adding CO's 3x to IAH in a year won't really ease the pain. I may end up flying WN for long-haul domestic

Same here, though they did reduce LAS to 2x daily and PHX has a gap between 630 and 930am. It would have been great if they were able to keep an ~8am option to any hub - now, east coast connections in time for dinner require the 6am departure to PHX.
