On-Line Check-In Gave Me Return Flight BP's!

Just checked in online for a flight tomorrow.

It apparently checked me in for both my outbound on 11/02 and for my inbound on 11/03!

And, I was able to print out all of my BP's (both inbound and outbound)! ^

MileageAddict Nov 1, 2007 5:46 pm

Yeah, it does that if your return is within 24 hours.

warreng24 Nov 1, 2007 6:32 pm

In the many quick turns that I have done, I've never had that happen!

I've always had to go back and re-check myself in for the return flight. Even if it was a less than 12 hour turn.

Amazing.

From the FAQs for "roundtrip check-in online":

What is round-trip check-in online?

Round-trip check-in enables a customer who has flights that depart and return in a 24-hour period to check in for both outbound and return segments of the trip using EasyCheck-in Online.

A true "enhancement"! :D

When did this change?

On my last MR last year with the DYMTWTU I was always so close to losing my seat since I couldnt checkin for the return until I landed.

I had this happen to me a few months ago (September I think) The part I do not like though is depending on the time of day you check in, you might not get all your boarding passes. I only got the return first connection and had to go print up the last connection later on. Overall not a huge deal, can't say its an "enhancement" per se...

This has been my experience as well, two or three times; i.e., checking in on my own computer, I received not only both of the outbound boarding passes, but also the first of two return boarding passes.

That's strange, since OLCI has allowed me to check-in for return segments at least from last Nov.

Yeah, I did a pack of MR's in Dec 06 where this was a feature as well, both OLCI and at the airport chicken. I remember one MR with a double-up where I checked in for both the outbound/inbound and the next day's outbound (which was within the 24 hr period).

it's been available for a little over a year as long as the return is within 24 hours.....

Isn't it that the total length of your trip (from initial departure to final landing) must be within 24 hours? I've had cases where the return departed within 24 hours of my initial departure, but did not get return BPs because it landed more than 24 hours after initial departure.

i use olci occasionally and don't recall any 'bonus points' (? miles) being posted...

did this require enrollment at some time?'

while we're here... what is 'CoS' -- I did try to search and looked at the acronym stickies, but didn't find the definition

That promo expired quite a while ago.

Class of Service. The associated bonus is more appropriately called the "high-yield bonus" since it includes Y and B fares in addition to Business Class and First Class fares.

I seem to recall this happening when outbound and return are within 24 hours.

As mentioned above, I have had situations where I've had return flight segments after the 24 hour window, and those have not printed.

Strange, but to my way of thinking you really only need the first leg of the return--it's either nonstop (in which case you are good to go) or it passed via a hub (in which case you can visit the chickens inside security for the remaining BPs, or ask at the gate).
