Consolidated "Arrival/Departure Lounge Options at EZE" Thread [Merged]

Have done a few searches regarding lounges at EZE and appears for *A only have the RCC upon departure. Are there any available arrival (shower) facilities or other *A lounges I may be missing?

You are correct, only RCC. No showers, and no other *A lunges. The RCC is small but above average as fas as RCCs go.

I was able to pick up free wireless internet signal last two times I was there.

brendog Jun 25, 2007 1:45 pm

The EZE RCC also stocks a fairly decent selection of free booze, which beats a shower any day in my book...

GolfTravelr Jun 25, 2007 9:23 pm

Another benefit of the EZE RCC is that it is seldom very crowded. Lounge attendents are friendly and attentive. I can't speak to the wifi issue, but if you can pick it up, all the better!!! One of the better RCC's in the system.

did anything good happen to the EZE RCC over summer?

according to this page at ual.com, there was supposed to be a fixup of the EZE lounge a month ago. Does anyone know if it's greatly improved, or is just sort of the same as before?

Condition One Sep 9, 2007 12:40 pm

Wasn't keeping an eye out, but it looked the same to me last week from the year before.

roberto99 Sep 9, 2007 12:56 pm

The EZE RCC always seemed OK to me.

And the lounge attendants take refilling the cooler with Quilmes beer seriously, too. :)

cpx Sep 9, 2007 12:59 pm

Used it for the first time last week. I didn't notice anything extraordinary.
Then again.. its RCC... what do you expect?

chejus Sep 10, 2007 6:28 am

The receptionist has a new lipstick color^

MarkXS Sep 10, 2007 12:41 pm

The paint smelled fresh 3 weeks ago.

The late-afternoon attendant had quite the attitude while handling irrops - but I don't know if that's new.

RCC in EZE

Hi all! How is the RCC in EZE? Is there hot food? Are there showers? (I'm guessing no on the showers, but since all EZE flights are now redeyes, I have to ask.)

Frank J Mar 8, 2009 7:04 pm

Standard Stuff

I was there a couple of months ago. Mostly the standard RCC stuff. Self serve drinks with pretzels, peanuts, cheeses, etc. While I may have missed it, no showers were visible to me. Just a crowded room with lots of people waiting for the redeye; furtunately my flight was the new cofiguration.

mauiUAflyer Mar 8, 2009 7:09 pm

I haven't been there in ~10 years (but am going back this summer...), so my info is a bit dated, no doubt.

I remember it being a standard int'l RCC... no showers (nor arrivals), but there was an open bar, and one could bring in just one guest). Back in the day, it was like an IFL-"lite", and we would sometimes get escorted by the matrons to the gate.

Not much food beyond snacks, IIRC, but certainly a quiet spot. Much nicer than the AMEX club...

Hopefully others will have more current info, which I am also keen to hear.

Eastbay1K Mar 8, 2009 7:09 pm

There are chips, nuts, and olives, cheese and crackers, and some stale cake at times, maybe a few other delights. Self-pour bar with drinkable Argentinovino (probably US$2 a bottle in the market down there). No showers, and it can get very crowded. I often like to head over there when flying out in the late afternoon / early evening (on LAN) because the AA lounge gets crowded, and boring, too (and has similar snack selection) and I can get in with my Priority Pass to the RCC and be the only one in the place.

If you sit on the cheese, it is the closest to hot food you will have. For better or worse, this is about as good as it gets at EZE for lounges.

And I thought I was the only one who did this :D

SoFlyOn Mar 8, 2009 8:01 pm

There's also free WiFi. The lounge is also shared by AC and LH, so if can get so crowded there's no place to sit.

EsquireFlyer Mar 8, 2009 8:20 pm

Okay, thanks for the info everyone! I figured the showers like at NRT would be too good to be true, but had to ask.

Then I think that any and all SQ *Gs (flying AC or LH) should be banned from entering the RCC when >50% of the seats are occupied. Heaven knows that's what SQ does to UA *Gs when the SKLs are crowded.

goingbananas Mar 8, 2009 8:23 pm

I will be going through EZE in a few weeks. Do they have "decent" wine and bubbly as well as mixed drinks?

So, the RCC is the only *G lounge available in EZE? What about TP, which lounge does it use?

LAX

TP doesn't fly to EZE, AFAIK

If the RCC is the only only game in town for *A (and gets real busy), does anyone know if the Admirals Club is near the RCC to access?

Yes it is, and it gets equally (if not more) crowded.

tcook052 Mar 8, 2009 10:52 pm

A friend recommended getting to EZE well ahead of time as the airport was busy later in the day with many overseas flights all leaving out around the same time. I'm on UA846 EZE-IAD so anyone have any input as to how early I should go?

I see this lounge also open to Priority Pass members so if I am there very early at least I can try and find a spot in the RCC as I'm a black PP cardholder.

ozgirl61 Mar 8, 2009 11:01 pm

I go thru there a couple of times a month. Don't get there too early expecting the club to be open, I think it opens sometime in the sfternoon, like 4pm or 6pm. I always arrive later so I am not sure. It is always crowded and hard to find a seat all the flights go out at around the same time so there is no quiet period in there. They sometimes have small (real Small) sandwiches, but mostly crackers and cheese etc. The toilets get a little overwhelmed by the sudden influx of everyone and so does the food / drinks areas. But the front desk staff are excellent. They are friendly and remember you if you are there often enough.

1. Aren't all PPs black?

2. I must confess that initially I felt guilty about starting a whole new thread just on the EZE RCC, but I couldn't find the answers in any other thread...so I'm glad to see that it turns out that other people had questions about this specific RCC too!

There is also another PP lounge - it is horrid (not airline-affiliated) but open all day if you get there before the RCC opens (currently at 16:15).

If you are in a non-premium cabin, you should be there 3 hours early.

I was in EZE a couple months ago and found the airport to be ridiculously crowded with all the red-eye departures. Flying in a premium cabin didn't help all that much, as the major hangup was the absurdly long line for security. Remember to proactively pay your prerequisite departure tax before you head for the security line, and if you plan to get a tax return for a shopping spree, there is a specific, potentially timely, process to follow (my companion got help up on that one and almost missed his flight).

On a related note, the secure international departure area that houses the UA gate(s?) is the most disorienting and shameless display of a duty-free maze I've ever been forced through. Also, the arrival immigration sequence at EZE was way understaffed and poorly managed IMO.

RCC was rather small, but not overcrowded in my case. No surprises or letdowns.

Mine is very, very black. :p Yes, I believe all are. I threw that in there in case there was a single person who perhaps didn't know what I was talking about.

Eek! How many hours ahead should I show up if flying C?
And, how to proactively pay the departure tax before security?

No worse than London Heathrow or Sydney.

I usually can get through check-in (using business/1K lane), pay for departure tax (using the cashier booth on the upper level), security, and immigration within one hour.

Collecting for departure tax for EZE is changing according to here.

I rather enjoy walking through the maze in EZE duty-free shop even though I have never bought a thing there. I enjoy looking at the local scenery. ;)

The whole airport (except for the check-in area and some of the lounges) is a complete dump. The gate areas, the duty free shopping areas, the baggage claim areas ... dumpity dump dump dump. Nevertheless, I'll be there again in a few weeks

chitownflyer Mar 10, 2009 12:56 pm

EZE RCC is a disappointment and usually very crowded. The EZE duty free areas are the nicer point of the airport.

OskiBear Mar 10, 2009 1:17 pm

I was there last July and the check-in/security process wasn't too bad. I might have been early, I truly don't recall. I do recall it being a very detailed process in that the agent asked me a whole series of questions regarding my trip/travel. I thought that was interesting.

Then, there was exit passport control if I recall correctly?

Then, lastly, was a rather disappointing RCC that was pretty crowded - seems like every flight was leaving at the same time! And, to make matters worse, the bathroom in the RCC was out of service so I had to use the public bathroom.

As an earlier poster mentioned, it was actually more comfortable and amusing to wander the endless maze of dutry free than to sit an upright chair surrounded by people waiting for their flights in the RCC.

Lounge Access EZE?

I'm flying IAD-EZE next weekend and was wondering if there were any arrival lounges with showers, etc. Any input appreciated--thanks!

iwillflytheworld May 31, 2009 4:02 pm

There is a RCC but I think only available to departing passengers. And it has no showers in any case. There is no arrival lounge.

Not sure about arrival lounge. However American Express has a nice lounge ( only used it on departure ) If you are Platinum or Centurion make sure you use those sub lounges once inside.. Much nicer.. ( they give you a special pass card to use to enter the Platinum and Centurion sub lounges..

CAPT Tee May 31, 2009 5:57 pm

EZE RCC does not open until mid-afternoon since it is only a departure lounge.
Also, once deplaned, pax with no connection will be directed to immigration. Only pax with connection can access to the gate area where all the lounges are located.
