How would you propose covering your butt? Making sure the GA rebooking you puts you in the proper class? It's not really the customer's job to ensure that the GA is doing their job properly, and therefore the customer shouldn't pay for a GA's mistake if/when an audit is done. Yes, I know I live in an ideal world. :)

(And yes, I realize how ironic my statement is given that we have to educate GAs about their job all the time, e.g. VDB vouchers, etc.)

To be honest, I can't think of anything at UA that is guaranteed.:D Not sure what this has to do with a crime and doing the time, though...

loose your status = time, which would be a crime

I just suggest that I wouldn't count those EQM's and have a backup plan because we all know they may make the "one time exception"

There is one way to get miles on a free ticket - that is to use the "Choices" program. You have to have a Chase MP Visa card and enough "Choices" and Mileage in your account to cover the cost of the ticket. But the way the program works, Chase is basically buying the ticket for you with Choices, so you earn MP miles on the flight as you would any other purchased flight.

Of course, unless you find a really low fare, you will probably use more miles this way than with a saver MP award, so you could come out behind on the deal, despite the earning of miles.
