Last night at SAN, paying for a $209 held reservation with Type B vouchers from a bump, I had a young TA who said the vouchers would only apply to the base fare, and came up with a) use one $100 voucher and pay $109, or b) use two $100 vouchers and pay $59 and get no residual voucher back. :td:

I am shaking my head and telling him he has not entered the correct code, these are Type B vouchers, and I will be using two of them and paying $9. He gives me a pitying smile, obviously I am delusional and making up my own rules. A voucher is a voucher.

Here is a wrinkle: Mrs hiyo has accompanied me, and is poking me, giving me the "don't be a jerk" look, saying "Just pay it, what's the big deal?" I am realizing this is the typical customer experience. What the TA says, goes.

But I know about Type B Vouchers, even if he doesn't, so I ask if he can have a supervisor assist us. He has no problem with it and fetches a supe. She immediately says he has used the wrong code and shows him what to key in and all is good.

What I learned from this experience is, leave my wife at home when doing any ticketing involving vouchers. She would rather accept bad information than have a confrontation, and I think she is probably typical of the majority of pax. :(

If I know I am in the right, I have no problem taking it to another level. And now that young TA knows what a Type B voucher is, and how to key in the correct code. ^

Ticketing success! The process took exactly one week from mailing (just regular old USPS) to having the "e-receipt" link show up in My Itineraries.

Upgrades requested and confirmed to boot ... thanks, Dearborn! ^ :D

What is the ticketing fee when you do Tickets by Mail?

Also, have they been waiving the ticketing fee when using Discount Certificates that Customer Relations sends you?

Since I am 1K, all ticketing fees are waived when doing ticket-by-mail.

For non-1Ks, I think a fee applies.

But, if a type B voucher is involved, then there is no fee.
