GTEM Certs

1) What the hell does GTEM stand for?
2) I've run out...just called the MPSC to get more...they had no idea what I was talking about. Suggestions?
3) Do you normally give yours to the employee in question or do you mail them in?

1. Going the extra mile.
2. Call again. Most agents know.
3. I usually give it to the employee.

1) Going the Extra Mile
2) The person you talked to is unlikely to ever receieve one, so I'd call back. NB: the certs are part of the elite welcome pack for all elite levels
3) I always give them in person...never fails to bring a warm smile to the recipients face

Edited to add:

1a) Grabbing Two Extra Mimosas
1b) Giving Thought to Every Moment
1c) Giving Two Extra Meal Choices
1d) Glenn Tilton is Expecting Me

Can you give this to the UA Express employee even though they actually work for Mesa, Skywest, etc?

I have several of these certificates but I've only found one person I would have considered giving one to, but it was an Express employee (the FA).

Yes - you can give them to a United Express employee. They will get placed in the employee's file. I've never gotten one, but several of my colleagues have. My manager told me they don't count towards our compliment rankings, oddly enough.

I found one yesterday laying in our supervisor's office that was written about a JFKSW flight attendant (no surprise - they're a great group of people). I routed that in UA company mail to him.

But we always appreciate compliments - at least it lets me know I'm getting something right :)

Happy Travels! :)

Do employees who receive these coupons receive any immediate tangible benefit? (i.e. like free confirmed travel for friends/family or something. I've heard that that is how it used to work at America West)

I wish! Unfortunately, this is not the case with United GTEM certs.

Happy Travels! :)

What works best then in order to make sure that a particular FA, who has done/is doing an excellent job, really gets some sort of recognition? Is it a phone call, a letter, an email...???

Thanks,

Thomas

The only time when I had been thinking of giving one of these certs happened on Friday morning in Hong Kong when SIN based UA FA had taken especially good care of this 1K.

A letter or e-mail works equally well for a SkyWest employee... they get a special certificate and everything.

Happy Travels! :)

Thanks for the info, I will (and I usually do) make an effort to compliment rather than complain (aren't we all allowed a bad day every now and then ;) ). Now, another question, for Skywest (and I fly regularly in and out of OXR to/from LAX) FA's, do I go through United or is there a better way?

Thanks,

Thomas

Does sending a glowing e-mail "make a difference" either? I recently read somewhere that complimentary e-mails are not necessarily forwarded to the employee in question... I'd be willing to send a snail-mail letter if it "made a difference," though.

GTEM Certificates, can they be photocopied?

I only have four certificates, but am hoping to use them all :) !

Considering how difficult it seems to be (from other threads) to get additional GTEM's, can we make decent photocopies of them and use those when we run out? Or will United no accept them...???

Any have experience with this...

Thanks!

Thomas

Sure, xerox them but also call the 1K line and request a new set. You might need to have them ask their supervisor what you're talking about, that was how I got mine the last time.

You can always write something on a blank paper, and give that to UA. If something is good, it is a compliment; if something is bad, it is complain.
