Nope. 5K EQMs (and a big chuck of RDMs) post after first purchase on the card.

    Elite choice - 7,500 max I believe (2,500 + 5,000) as a "carryover" to next year (for 1Ks - only 2,500 max for 1Ps)
    Choices - 5,000 per year

What do you mean by "Choices"? Do you mean tickets bought using "miles for money" is capped at 5000?

You can convert choices to EQM directly without flying.

Wow: I am impressed that there are ways to get EQM's without flying. Continental is so stingy with them!

Sounds like you qualify on segments? Y/B fares (or higher) give 1.5 EQSs, so that may be one way to shorten the gap ;)

And at a really great rate too!

What was it again? 10 RDMs per EQM? (5K EQM ceiling).

I don't think so...

yeah I guess taking a milage run would make more sense.

I was surprised at the pre-payed cards. It really does not offer a very good deal.

If you're going to spend that amount of $$$ and want elite status to begin with... not bad! ^

I'm surprised at a lot of the "deals" UA offers. They're often horrible.

But then I'm more surprised when I meet people who've ponied up.

I know people who've done buy-up UGs and E+ Access (those actually aren't such bad deals...).

A bit silly, but I think it's possible?! :)

Definitely possible. This year, I've activated four cards for a total of 20K EQMs, and will fly another 30K EQMs to make 1P. This has allowed me to take advantage of some good saver awards on reasonably expensive flights since the extra credit card EQMs give me a buffer and I don't have to do all my flying on revenue tix to make 1P again for next year. Gives me the best of all worlds - a chance to spend some of my RDMs and still keep my status.

This might be a strategy that would work best if you don't worry about credit score...

And, the price you paid (4*$140=$560) would get you 80,000 miles/choices (20,000*4) plus the 20K EQMs. Not bad!

My credit score has been, and continues to be excellent, and I've been on the CC bandwagon for the past couple of years. Lots of discussion about credit scores - they may go down slightly in the short term but will rebound.

How long did you wait between obtaining the cards? I think other posts and threads have indicated waiting about two months between cards--otherwise (I guess) the EQMs and RDMs don't accrue. Has that been your experience?

WOW - is that what the conversion rate is? :( The value of 50k RDMs one would spent to get 5K EQMs is at least $500, which would buy a nice, long MR. And flying the MR would generate additional RDMs.
