Ice Cream

For the past couple of years, C class from Europe to the USA has served ice cream as the dessert. I've flown from AMS, BRU, FRA and LHR to the US and got ice cream. Is it just me or is ice cream a completely unadventurous, unspecial and bland excuse for a C class dessert? Does anyone like this?

Actually, compared to the other options, I think it is great! ^

IMO, better than the cake they serve to Asia, or the tarts they serve within Asia.

What exactly are you looking for as an alternative?

In March SFO-IAD C-cabin we were served the best chocolate gateau I have ever had. Far better than the ice cream, which is an interesting novelty at 38,000 feet, but a bit tiresome after a few times.

I like the ice cream and since they offer toppings from a cart it is custom tailored to each person. I am a VERY picky eater so it really helps. The topping parts make it very classy as well IMHO. I wish DEN-BWI would get some ice cream instead of yucky cheesecake's!

I like ice cream, but not al the time - it would get monotonous. The OP's real beef, it seems, is with repetitiveness, not with the actual serving of ice cream per se.

Since 99% of people don't fly every day, the airline is catering to the vast majority. For them, ice cream in the air is novel.

I think that ice cream is a great desert.

I even sneak an ice cream with my SIN departure lounge 'breakfast" before my UA departures!

In fact, ice cream is in the novelty section of the freezer aisle in most grocery stores! ^ :p

I'll never get bored with ice cream, especially since the stuff UA serves is tasty. ^ ^

I have never seen toppings in int'l C. The ice cream has always been a couple of scoops in different flavors (e.g. vanilla & chocolate, vanilla & strawberry). Toppings are just for F (unless you have an outstanding crew member who will sneak you a sundae ;))

Right - and this has always seemed really petty to me. I understand the need to differentiate F from C, but ice cream toppings? Really!

If you plan ahead, you can have crushed nuts, not to mention Kahlua, Bailey's, ...

Last July I flew one-way FRA-IAD and got ice cream in coach. *yummie*

my mistake I didn't know that. I never get the toppings anyways, and figured if domestic F has it C would as well. :o

Love icecream but had some flights where the icecream was so stone hard that you needed a chisel and hammer to eat it. On my last flight my seat neighbor compared the ice cream's consistency to a baseball.
