Question about M class fare and E+ seating

Hello all,

As you can tell, I don't really post much here on this forum, though I enjoy reading everything here a lot. I'm still a student and do not fly enough to get status on UA, though it is my preferred airline and I have a MP account.

I am planning a trip to Europe (IAD-WAW-ORD) this summer, and my question concerns E+ plus seating. Is a M class fare eligible for E+ seating? The flyertalk post about UA fares states that it is almost fullfare economy, and the seat map shows E+ seats avaiable. One of my routing options IAD-WAW is a M-class fare, and I would glady pay the $40 more for a E+ seat.

If not available for E+ seat, would you all recommend E- in a 767 or 777? My choice is either IAD-BRU-WAW or IAD-AMS-WAW, but with no available seat selection during booking and with no price difference (all on Q fares).

Thank you all in advance.

Yes, an M fare qualifies for E+

From a comfort perspective, I find them to be the same thing. Both feature PTV's and are pretty good IMHO. I would go for the 777, simply because I prefer it over 767. (Economy class comparison only)

i'm curious as to why not H class? i know that E/U have eclipsed it in the 'official' fare hierarchy that FT has constructed in the FAQ, but it's miles-upgradable to region 2 which E/U are not.

For some reason, I'm under the impression E/U aren't Region 2 fares.. Not sure though

that may be, but i guess just having the ability to upgrade H fares in region 2 would make me expect that they're (nearly) as good as M fares, so they'd also get E+. well, isn't a problem for me, just curious.
