What does "RAR" mean?

So I've seen many posts, usually regarding the darling Ted. And the term "RAR!!!" is used often.

I've searched FT, FT Glossary, and www.acronymfinder.com but found nothing useful.

What does RAR mean?

BTW, my wife forced me to post this question.

I think I recall reading this thread last year. I didn't realize RAR/Rar came from it. I feel so enlightened now!

Reading those thread and I still don't get it about "RAR". Can anyone enlighten me more specifically?

I believe it comes from "Spongebob Squarepants". Here is an example:Spongebob: "Rar!!! I'm the Flying Dutchman!"
Patrick: "Rar!!! I don't know who I am!

I also think Phil Hartman used it in a "Saturday Night Live" skit where he was a Frankenstein-type character.

What does RAR mean?

Actually, it is what TED FA's say to you when you ask for a full can of Pepsi. :D

I think he kind of explains it in post #15, equating Ted with Frankenstein (who RARs!) :

-----------------------------------------------
Yeah. I don't know how it came to be in my story that Ted talks like Frankenstein, but somehow it just seemed appropriate. Just think of the possibilities:

"You pretty! Want join Ted's mile high club? RAR!"

"Ted mad you not read exit row brochure! RAR!"

"No lemonade for you. Ted drank. RAR!"

Still. "Ted angry! Rar!" Maybe a new marketing campaign catch-phrase? I can't wait for my Emmy nomination. Too bad Phil Hartman is dead. He's the perfect Ted.

I always guessed it was a noise and always found the RAR posts quite funny assuming that is what it was. Glad someone asked the question and thanks for the specific clarification.

Me Like it :D "RAR"

So "RAR" equates to saying, "So, there!"

Thanks for all of the help.

Whenever I am on a Ted flight and sign the Hemispheres Magazine for the spot the flyertalker game, I always include in the signature:

Me like Rar! :D

The genesis of RAR is as a scary noise. Think in terms of the Frankenstein monster, arms outstreched, going RAR! to frighten the villagers.

Phil Hartman used it hilariously on Saturday Nigh Live. Now we have TED. RAR!

kcvt750 May 22, 2005 6:30 pm

It's also Scooby-Doo saying "Rot a ranker!"

I always consult Urban Dictionary for this type of slang:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rar&r=f

So, pick your own favorite definition from the 15 offered!!! ;)

CApreppie May 22, 2005 10:41 pm

KathyWdrf - I'll never think of RAR in the same way again!
