Booking class U

Trying to book ORD-HNL online with discount code. Return trip always comes up U fare. According to ozstamps fare code thread, U is a TED fare, but this isn't a TED flight. Does anyone know if U is upgradeable with miles?

What dates are you trying to book? I'm trying to find a U fare ORD-HNL.

I can't seem to replicate the U fare on the return segment. What flight numbers are you booking?

It only comes us with the electronic Entertainment code--on every flight from HNL, whether to ORD, LAX, or SFO. Doesn't appear on flight over.

I wonder if it's a glitch mistake on the Web site.

U isn't just a Ted fare. UA has been using E and U class for fares that match DL SimpliFares and the new AA fare structure. The UA E and U typically match the DL Y and B fares, and the AA Y and K fares.

The new AA fare structure has Y and K fares on most routes for unrestricted tickets. Think of K as having all the features of Y, except it's inventory controlled.

So this should make E and U pretty high in the UA fare hierarchy, no? Maybe between B and M?
