Yikes! 18 hours in Y?!?

I had a seatmate in C HKG-ORD in mid-March who said he took the LAX-SIN on SQ on the 345. I asked him how the flight was and he replied, "Horrible." He said the 18 hours was a bear (he was a 1K who clearly has done a LOT of traveling). He mentioned Raffles Class, but can't recall where he sat on the flight.

Thanks

Thas my idea too about being in a plane for 18 hours no problem. i use to fly in the 1980's to MAD from GUA it took like 22 Hours in the same plane with 2 stops. Thank god for Tylenol PM.

I don't think I could personally take 18 hours on a plane. However, given the choice, I would generally prefer to fly SQ rather than UA (even with the double miles).

Not on the 345

Hate to sound like a broken record, but that just simply isn't true on SQ 19-20. The Executive Economy on the 345 gives much more legroom than E+, real leg elevation, significantly more recline and a much wider seat (2-3-2 on a Airbus 340 which is 8 or (to recollection) even 9 across in coach on other airlines). Also, in case you like to work on these flights, there is power in every seat (direct plug-in - no adapter needed). And the IFE is endless and flawless - not four repeating movies, several hundred choices of what to watch or listen to, all on demand (18 hours IS a long time, no doubt about it). Plus, having only 117 coach seats on the entire plane is - if nothing else - kinda cool

And Singapore Girls. Not to be underestimated.

Make no mistake - I am a United fan and have been 1K six out of the last 7 years (and heading to Amsterdam/London with them on Monday) and wish they provided something remotely close in quality. But if upgrades are tight and I am going to singapore or beyond, this is the way to go, especially from LAX

Thank you all

Problem solved my wife booked her reward travel with MP GUA-BKK and the route they gave her was GUA-LAX-SIN-BKK-SIN-LAX-GUA The traspacific flights where give in SQ 19 and 20. So i will be going with the non-stop in SQ with my wife. I love also UAL i will love to enjoy the 345 for my self. To europe i allways fly with there E+ is great.

We were talking about SQ Ex Y on the 345 though--which is far better than UA E+ with a much better seat. Thereby you would get more and better sleep as well as have better service at the same time.
