Question re OLCI & BPs for same day return

Greetings...I have a one-day trip (out AM, return PM) tomorrow and was able to do OLCI and print BPs for the outbound legs and the first of two return legs. My itin and e-receipt show the last leg, but OLCI only shows the first three checked in and I only got BPs for the first three...

My concern is not being checked in for the final connection and not having the BP. I really do NOT want to spend an unscheduled Saturday night in ORD...

Can anyone shed light on whether this is not at all unusual (e.g., just a quirk I'll be able to iron out with a TA/GA tomorrow at the airport) or something I need be concerned about before commencing travel to ensure I don't get stranded?

No luck with a search, so TIA for any assistance!

cheers!

If you're within 24 hours of your return, you can OLCI for that as well.

It will try to take you to the outbound checkin, but there is a link for "Show Additional Flights" or similar language.

I do a lot of one day mileage runs. Most of the time, as channa points out, if I wait until 24 hours before the last leg, OLCI will let me obtain all my boarding passes. Once in a while, I'll get most of them and not the last leg. It's a simple enough process to get the last coupon from a human somewhere along the way or a kiosk (but this only seems towards the end of the itinerary).

I found a few other threads on this topic which I'll add to this thread so you can see what others have had to say.

Hope this helps!

Thanks FlyinHawaiian! Used the wrong search terms or surely would have stumbled across this.

cheers!

I found this thread via search as I'm doing a quick turn tomorrow - round trip, two segments each way.

At 24 hours prior to the first return leg, I was able to check in the entire return segment. On easy check-in online, a grey button labeled "view additional fights" appears below the confirmed flights list, and check-in can be done from that page.

the "view additional flights" link has been out there for well over a year and will "open up" at t-24 for your return segment (and generally if you have multiple return segments you should get all of them as they are associated with the first return segment)

Am I missing something? This has worked in the past but .bomb is not working for me today.

I have a MR tomorrow and we are officially within the 24hr window on the return legs but when i go to OLCI, it doesn't give me the additional flights option. It's still only the 3 outbound legs for which I've already checked in last night.

It happens once in a while to me; I just get a boarding pass from an agent somewhere along the way. In my experience, the kiosk isn't going to work until you fly all the legs preceeding the one you haven't checked in for.

silly question but are you within t-24 (local time) of the final/very last leg. i've had it happen where it will eventually open up (albeit a few hours late so keep checking) but if not, FlyinHawaiian, is right as olci can also sometimes get phuglied on a multi-segment run so have any agent print the final bp for you (and for me, i would do it at my outbound airport so as to show "checked in" in case of any irregularities along the way (late arrival, a/c swap, etc)

Same-Day Flights using OLCI

I am flying from MCI-DEN-MCI tomorrow, and it will only let me check-in for the MCI-DEN flight. How can I print the boarding pass for DEN-MCI?

Have you reached the 24 hour window for the return? If not, that is the reason it will not print out. You may want to try again after you pass the 24 hour mark for the return.

Otherwise, you can print out at a kiosk at the airport or have an agent do it. Done it many times!

WineCountryUA Nov 30, 2009 10:17 am

normally can OCLI connecting flights even if outside 24 hours window for the connecting flight. But a return flight is usually handled separately.
If UA/UX try at the 24 hour window.

Is it just not offered or is there a message?

SEA1K4EVR Nov 30, 2009 10:18 am

Are you within 24 hours of the return flight? If not, wait until you are and then do OLCI again.. you should be able to check in for both. If you are within 24 hours of the return and you still are not able to checkin then there is some kind of glitch and you'll need to do it at the airport.

On two MR's in November, when I finished OLCI for outbound, it asked me if I wanted to check in for the return flight, and I did. Printed both BPs before I left home.

In some instances, I've had to click a very subtle "look for other flights" button below the details on the "checked in" page.
