Upgrades
 
Intermittently we have been "elite"
To start requalifing we are flying to LON
for a quick trip[1/27-1/31-3x miles thereafter] using ua vacation package.
@ this fare no upgrades for miles. Any ideas
about how to get to business class? Thx

Unexpired "Sweet Spot" Upgrade cert or hope for an Operational Upgrade.

They were international upgrade certificates given mid-2003 to United's 100,000 mile flyers. They upgrade pretty much any fare. There are still a few out there, you might find some in the Coupon Connection forum here on Flyertalk.

Just did the same. and got upgraded with Sweet Spots. Did not seem to be a problem.

How to get sweet spot upgrades? Been with United for 16 years, mostly as Premier Exec but currently 1k and never heard of the document?

They were given to 1K's in the middle of 2003. Did you have 1K status then?
