I would disagree with the suggestion to give add'l upgrades at 50K. Of course, it would be nice for those receiving them. But there's already a huge incentive to make and retain 1P status, and that's moving from 25% to 100% bonus miles. It seems that the hole is at 75K. Having said that, perhaps 2 HK49's at 50,000 BIS miles might be OK. One concern is, that the more you reward 1P, the smaller the difference is between 1P and 1K. At present, UG's and UG priority are about the only difference left between the two. Load up too much on 1P benefits by giving 4 SWU's (2 each at 50K and 75K) and people won't have much incentive to go to 1K.

Allow me to use 30K miles on the same fares a 1K can use SWUs on in 2004, and I will be ecstatic.

I don't need the SWUs. One of the advantages of being a 1P is 100% mileage bonus so I "have" the equivalent of three SWUs a year already.

And a 1K has the equivalent of six. Add the six SWUs they get and man - what an incentive to fly international.

Could be a big revenue win for United and a comfort win for their passengers.

Even 2Ps benefit, since they would get one SWU-equivalent.

That is exactly the point. I fly mostly transatlantic (4-5 times a year) and pay out of MY pocket. I travel always on W fares as I cannot afford to pay 1500 $ for an upgradable H fare. I will be 1P in a few days but the only advantage I will have is *gold and access to lounges.
