Recrediting Miles - Canceled Award Booking

How long does it usually take for miles to be recredited to your account after canceling an award booking?

I am finding that with the Manila CC it takes between a month and never.

Very poor service indeed, with a hint of incompetence and rudeness.

Oftentimes if all UA metal award 24hr-48hr.
If any part of award involves *A flight, I've had to wait 1 week to post.
You should call UA MP in USA collect call directly since Manila CC is that bad.

Since you are almost a 2MM miler on UA, why on earth are you talking to Manila??

+1

As a 1K, I've had no problem asking for the miles to be redeposited immediately. 1K desk calls MP and miles get credited.

What number did you call? if you call 1K desk they will transfer you to 1K MP CS, as far as Manila CC they might not competence but they NEVER rude, beside you always can hang up and call again :)

OK, fair enough! I didn't know that 1K's were getting routed to Manila, but my overall point would remain the same:
If I WERE routed to Manila, I'd simply follow the FT mantra:

Hang up and call again! ;) :D

Thats interesting. On rare occasions, I've called the 1K line and once on the phone with someone, pretty much could tell I wasn't speaking with someone who wasn't in the US... does the phone line route to other call centers when the domestic line is full?

Never happened to me, but as goalie points out, maybe I've just been lucky! It's GraceB who's been on the unlucky end!! ;)

With the volanco mess during the past week, calls were forwarded all over the world. I spoke once to India and several time with the GS desk (I wish!)

To OP's question....if all on UA/LH flights (the only airlines on which I have booked award travel recently), the miles were credited within minutes, sometimes even while still on the phone trying to make a new booking.

My bet is our dear Grace was calling from SYD, where there is no choice other than MNL.

Miles was credited back to my MP account immediately for UA metal flights.

not true, Aussies have a toll free 1K line number, in my experience, when the agent hears an Australian accent they love to chat about their visits to Australia, or whether you know their friend in "insert Australian city" :p
Sometimes they even get around to doing what you have called about

And to keep on topic, miles have always redeposited instantly for me, taxes refunds etc are a whole different story, and often need chasing

I've run into this before. Now I belong to the "Hang up and try again club".
