comped entry into RCC-LAX ?

Can this be granted at check-in during these troubled times?

I'm a Premier flying LAX-SYD..XY class...

I know they won't offer but if I ask...?

If you are only a Premier and you are flying coach, tristement, non! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

You are also out of luck. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Unless you have a friendly face and a degree of chutzpah. See someone making a bee line to the door and politely saw you are going to SYD and want to do some laptop work before you go, and would that person object to taking you in as his guest. If it were me, I'd OFFER to buy him/her a drink, but that is for you to decide. 5 bucks for possible RCC access is a good deal. This getting signed in deal often works many have reported here in the past.

What is your fly date? Some here (coff) are flying LAX-SYD in the not too distant future. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

You may want to spend your time at WH Smith purchasing "body numbing pills" for the 14 hour jump to SYD in Y. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I think following Oz's recommendation will work just fine.

GG1 & Glen I believe being comped may still be possible if Pax has been severly disserviced. This not having been discussed I would say no. The RCC is there to serve Pax according to UA's rules. One can be a paid member or have status according to the rules. Any Pax wishing to use the club could purchase a 1 day pass(USD50.00). I do not hold with Pax trying to panhandle their way into RCC by asking members entering the club to vouch for them. I have on occasion asked a seatmate with whom I have conversed a period of hours to join me in the club @ a conn airport(NRT on a SIN run). I do not believe that offering me a $5.00 drink for entry would change my mind! A posting in Community might help a FT'er get in if another FT'er is there also. I am told that PAX try every ploy imaginable to use the RCC and I for one am glad UA employees are ever vigilant to keep the freeloaders out! I appreciate being able to find a seat when I enter the club! John

I was traveling Friday June 20th on the red-eye flight UA#84 Lax-Ewr on first class. I am not an RCC member, I am an Amex Platinum credit card holder to access DL & CO clubs which are the airlines I mostly fly. Flight#84 was delayed, so I went to the RCC asked the receptonist if I can come in. She said this is a club for members only. I said I understand, but my flight has been delayed and I would like to have a drink and make a few phones and I really would appreciate her kindness if she would grant me access. She said please come in I hope you like our club. On my way out the club I stopped her desk and again thanked her.
Bottom line the answer is yes.

Nice. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

Bottom line, any CIVILISED airline should automatically grant access to a lounge if flying a 5 hour paid First Class ticket. Geez.

Book a Qantas domestic biz ticket and they give access. If 99% of those who think RCC is a nice place they gain entry to be, would collapse with shock if they ever entered a Qantas Domestic club. Free booze, lots of REAL food, free computers, showers, ton of room, newspapers. etc, etc.

Then why do you continue to give UA your business? How can you fly such an UNcivilized airline? If Qantas is so wonderful, I can't imagine why you don't fly them all the time!

Glenn,

When will you be in LAX? Maybe if I'm in the airport at the sametime we can say hi to one another?

ozstamps Jun 29, 2003 12:00 pm

NCR Bill - Next in LAX in 2 weeks (July 13) for an "almost 24 hour but not quite" stopover you have - when you do not have a legal stopover. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
