Jana,

Maybe you and the UA folks here can start posting all the dumb things us passengers do. Afterall, turn about is fair play. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Sincerely, the same day I "adopted" a psgr's stray kitten (too young for shots and Vet papers to fly. I bottle fed her!) I was told by a 1K (delayed 45 mins. IND-ORD) that "I wish the very worst for ALL of you!!" The next delayed flight, I was asked if I had any children. I said I did and this witch told me how sorry she was for any child to have me as a mother. She was angry because her seat was given away 15 mins. prior to dept. on an oversold flight and her baby HAD to be picked up by 6pm in Chicago. This was my fault. Right?
I hear a lot of insults- never one from this board. It's why I prefer FC and Premier check-in while working.

These comments have caused me some thought - there is no question that airline staff get dumped on by PAX - like YOU broke the plane yourself to make life difficult for everyone! I for one know that I would not have the fortitude to be barked at by 10 people and then smile to the 11th customer hoping they would be nice. That is why I am not in a service profession and that is why some people in the airline business should look for new jobs.

I for one would like to apologize to all CSR's, good and bad, for the rude and obnoxious attitudes demonstrated by some PAX - you may not all always be charming, but you do not deserve to be personally attacked either.

I have on more than on occasion given a CSR or FA my business card and asked them to use my name if a PAX who I witnessed was a jerk to them followed though on any kind of threat to write the nasty letter and that in turn caused the employee any grief. If we expect this to work, we all need to be partners in the process.

I've done that twice, once in the 1K room at ORD, when I expected a fellow passenger to file a complaint against the agent. In both cases the agents acted professionally and proper, and the passenger was the one with the problem (the passenger in the 1K room missed a connection and was a jerk). I never heard from either of the UA employees, so gather the passengers never complained higher up the chain. I was prepared to testify on the employee's behalf if the need arose.

Jana -- so you made a mistake. You know what that makes you? Human.

Don't sweat it.

Especially after her comments. It was good to see the supervisor back you up, and if she decides she will never fly with you again, so be it. Let some other airline deal with her nonsense.
