Travel Waiver: Technology Disruption 6-7 August 2025, new original travel dates
Mrs. Lurker flying Montana - CA and on ground at departure airport due to what pilot is calling a UA systemwide shutdown . Anyone know what's going on?

There have been website issues for much of today. Realize they are separate systems but there could infrastructure issues

Early reports now appearing on Reddit of a broad outage of weight and balance software/system

I just saw this posted on Reddit a few minutes ago. Looks country-wide?

Yep - just heard that it's weight and balance and it's nationwide - was announced by the captain. Actually said :system that counts and weighs the bags" which, well, close enough!

Pilot says that the software that closes flights and lets planes depart from the gate is down... So, no planes can depart.. systemwide.
Our gate is occupied so we're stuck on the tarmac somewhere. |
Looking at FR24/ADSBex they are parking UA planes wherever they can at ORD
ORD Ground on LiveATC is doing their best to solve the parking problem they are having. |
I bet this is when you actually wish there was a bus to take you from the remote stand to the terminal.

Sitting on the ground at Denver. We are at gate. The pilot said the name of the system but didn’t catch it. He didn’t sound enthusiastic it would be fixed. Maybe they should try unplugging the router, waiting 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
edit: pilot came on and said no update. He is hoping they are trying to reboot. Does not sound optimistic we are going anywhere. |
ORD ground on LiveATC is sounding doubtful it will be soon.

Does not sound optimistic we are going anywhere. if it’s the same people in charge of the online Wi-Fi near were hosted. Landed about 430 mountain time. Sitting in Denver, watching all the other airlines move planes.. I had to get some work done, so I upgraded myself to first to be able to work on my laptop. So glad I did right now. |
Pilot says this outage only impacting United mainline,not United express. Lucky them..
