Keep in mind if you gift status to someone/family I am pretty sure if you use your 1/31/2026 points the gifted status also ends at 1/31/2026. I am in the same boat with hundreds expiring worthless then as well but since my options are limited I will probably just upgrade my daughter for what will be no more than two RT trips with UA between now and the end of the year. It is either do this or really eat them.

Ahhh, PP's EARNED in 2025! Bummer so excludes currently held 2025 points (with Jan expiration). None the less any gifting terminates when the points expire so I guess gift early. Well for sure prior to 3/31. So basically my currently held PP's expiring end of Jan are next to worthless.

To your point, I recently gifted PP's to a 1K family member for a SFO-KOA flight. He is, and this is a record, 25 on the upgrade list! It almost doesn't seem possible yet it is. I suspect everyone is throwing them at any and all flights including friends and family. Makes sense and yes I am "guilty" as well.

I have 40 that I can use because I have, so far, earned Platinum status--i..e, that expire in 2027 and so are eligible. It's good to see the fine print that I can use them in 2025 to get a few extra PQPs...since it is possible I will be a few hundred points short of 1K.

I have 320 plus points. 40 that expire at the end of the month and 280 that expire in over a year.
I want to exchange those 40 for PQP. Is there a way to go about this so I make sure that the ones that are expiring first?

you cannot exchange these 40, you can only use them for upgrades

Exchanging plus points error
I had some expiring plus points this month, I exchanged them for TB cash.
I was horrified to learn that this took my new batch of PP for 2026, I mean who would want to exchange their Jan 2027 plus points in Jan 2026 especially if they have expiring Pluspoints that month.
I called the 1k line who advised they will open a ticket to reverse, it has been 9 days, how long does this process typically take?
I am guessing this has happened to many others

I think they took the right ones. United doesn't want to buy the ones that are about to expire. They want them to expire. There was a discussion in the PP thread about having to make a gamble about having to trade PPs so far in advance of expiration - and that's exactly what you errantly have done with the PPs expiring in 2027. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a sympathetic agent.
