Yep. I just saw this for UA for friends, and today I flew back to the US from the UK and yet again--as every time--AA made me fill it out. No options. It is not the airlines.

What kind of a CDC requirement is bypassed if you check in at the airline counter? There's your effective disease control, right there! (This BS is bypassed at the counter Canada-USA for UA, IME)

I usually just wait until getting to the airport to check-in, for that reason. Although I am forced to go through the process on the app even if I just want to change seats during the check-in window (e.g. after a T-24 hr upgrade).

Interestingly it didn't work at YVR on AC earlier this year coming back to US. They wanted an address before issuing a BP.

I can't recall where — I think FRA, although it may have been another station — but I've now had a kiosk running the "United kiosk app" (for lack of a better term) force me to do the address before it would let me through the rest of the flow. Kind of a toss up which was more inconvenient, doing it that way or on the phone.

United still requires contact tracing info to be entered when checking in on the app flying to the US, and the CDC order from 2021 is still in force, AFAIK:

Are the other US airlines still doing this also, and is there any end in sight?

This is a real hassle when one is a Premier Silver on a three-person PNR, trying to check in exactly 24 hours in advance to get two E+ seats.

MNL-GUM leaves at 00:40.

Does checking on on the website rather than the app serve as a workaround?

WTH OLCI requiring Contact Tracing ?

First screen in app of OLCI MUC ORD gives me the Covid contact tracing form for CDC. Freakin ridiculous

Obviously not, but it's ridiculous that UA forces travelers to provide this information or eschew OLCI.

All airlines are required to provide passenger information to CDC, not just UA. On a recent trip on OZ I was unable to get a boarding pass for ICN-SFO until I filled out the CDC form, my other boarding pass was able to be issued fine.

Nonsense. It's optional information. I've never provided it upon entering the US.

I tried to avoid doing it with OLCI but then the kiosk at FRA made me do it. I think you have to go to the desk to get out of doing it.

I think I used the Delta app and did not have to do it, but my memory might be incorrect.

I'm well aware that people have got around the form. However this is still a requirement instituted to the airlines by CDC which they must comply with. So unless the requirement is stopped airlines will continue to annoy passengers with this.

cfischer Jun 30, 2025 9:47 am

so none of this is new and you obviously don't need to fill it out. Why do we have this thread?
