That's a great idea too. I'll drop them a line and see what happens.

Just had a response from Thai Airways along with an attached copy of my booking which shows my UA FF number on it. "Thank you for contacting us.
The attachment is your booking when you travelled with us. You can see line 19 & 20 where your UNITED airlines member numbers were added into you booking There is no record of any THAI airways member number being entered, therefore we are unable to remove something that does not exist. I can only suggest that you go back to UNITED with this information. Kind regards Chris" I have a funny feeling that UA are just going to stonewall me on this, even with the above statement. I will persist though - seems an insane situation to me. |

Not at all. TG has refused the credit - if that is now resolved then UA will credit it. UA doesn't care - TG pays for the miles.

I have just written another email to United with all the details attached, including the TG email. I will keep everyone posted if there's interest in progress?

Yes, let us know how it turns out. Good luck!
"This is to confirm that we received your concern about your Mileage credit along with the copy of your supporting documents.I've checked your account and it appears that the TG 917 LHR-BKK, TG475 BKK-SYD and TG916 BKK-LHR flights have already been credited. To view your account activity, sign in at www.united.com , go to the “My Account” page and select “Recent activity” from the “Balances & status” header. To ensure you receive proper credit on future flights: - Make sure the name on your reservation matches the name on your MileagePlus account. - Provide your account number when making reservations and at the time of check in at the airport. - Keep the original boarding passes and a copy of your ticket receipt until you see the flights credited online. Moreover, for your TG462 MEL-BKK. We’re working with our Star Alliance partner on your behalf to receive authorization to credit your missing flight activity. Please allow up to four weeks for resolution. To see if the flight(s) have credited, sign into your account at www.united.com/myaccount and from the My Account page, click on Recent activity from the Balances & status header. If your mileage hasn’t posted after 4 weeks, the flight may not be eligible for credit. Kindly message us back or call our MileagePlus Service Center at 800-421-4655 for further assistance. Please note: Our partners will not accept requests for flights more than 12 months after the travel date, regardless of the original date of submission." |
one off versus a systemic issue?
I had this exact same circumstance for one segment (YVR-YUL) on AC metal. I sent Mileage Plus a photo of my bp and the discrepancy was resolved three weeks later. @ the time, I believed the issue was the bp was not properly scanned in YVR. Now, I wonder if the issue was more systemic?

That's definitely progress. The agent actually took the time to read your email and research the background and assuming TG comes back with the correct response, you should get credit.

It's shocking how they sometimes fail to do this simple step. Or maybe it's AI and a programmed reply that handles most email complaints so a human has never read it. When eventually they do get to read it and act on it (by the third or fourth email), it based entirely on data that could have been gathered from the first email.
Ok, so here's the latest response from UA. Must be from a different department, but I have to submit paperwork I've already given them....four times.... The words in bold are UA's emphasis. The note came from [email protected] - which has managed to confuse Thai Airways with Turkish Airlines. "Thank you for reaching out about your missing flight. To submit a request to Turkish Airline on your behalf for authorization, we need a copy of the boarding passes (received) and ticket receipt (that includes your name, ticket number, price, flight numbers, purchased fare class, dates and cities of travel). If you no longer have your ticket receipt, you may be able to obtain it from the airline you flew or your travel agent. Please reply with attached document(s) to this email. The file size should be limited to 1 MB and in one of the following file types: PDF, JPG, GIF, TIF, and TIFF. We look forward to your reply." |
