This has been an option on the website for a while, and has been posted in Jetstream for close to a year at least. Very few reasons check in would need to be undone, mostly it is to facilitate reissuing a ticket, since you can't reissue against a checked in coupon. LHG carriers/AC also have the option on their websites if you go to "check in again" there is an option to "check out".

And in all my UA ticketed flights I have never once had to uncheck in. I don't get the point of this either. SDC, upgrades, changing flights, etc. has never been an issue. *That* is where UA excels.

Another reason to un-checkin is if you checked in without your correct KTN entered in the PNR & didn't get TSA Pre. You fix this by un-checking, entering the correct KTN, and checking back in.

Undo checkin has been available for years (going back as far as the PMCO website, if I remember correctly)--I use it all the time to make last minute changes to flights for travelers who have already checked in (can't exchange a checked-in itinerary in Sabre)--but it's always been a bit of a pain to find the right series of buttons to get to the undo checkin flow.

Not sure if Sabre lets you do this, but generally with UA’s system if you cancel out the reserved space for the checked in flights, it will automatically uncheck those coupons too. But again not positive if there are any restrictions on Sabre from cancelling space on day of travel.

Post #2 of this thread confirms it was indeed there years ago, but didn't really work well.

why would you want or need to undo a check-in?
IIRC, you can also split PNR for CPU on a re-check if you say no the first time. |

Don’t need to uncheck for this. Just edit the KTN and it should automatically transmits/updates BP if it matches.

I used undo check-in on Friday... I got a "Mile Play" on my recent trip offering 600 miles to check in via the app (and another 800 if I used bag drop). Of course, I received the offer email after I had checked in (via the app), so wouldn't qualify by the T&C. So I undid check-in, then re-checked-in again via the app. I didn't get credit yet for the bag drop, though; my guess is even though I'd selected the bags online, scanned my BP at the shortcut kiosk, weighed my bags, and a UA agent came over to apply the tags, I did something with the kiosk that kicked me out of the offer (like when I told it to print my BP, as I always keep a paper copy).
