How are you searching for these flights to WLG? Segment by segment or just a simple oneway?

There's no issue currently with transiting NRT, right?

I believe there is no issue as long as it is not overnight as there isn't an airside hotel. You can overnight in HND though as it has an airside hotel. As for now no transit between airports.

I think the only problem is if you miss your flight because the airport is closed overnight.

Isn't the HND airside hotel currently closed?

Thoughts on booking a HKG transit (2nd daily flight ex-SFO - which I foresee being cancelled) in Dec on the way to BKK? It's the only routing with all segments in business (ICN/NRT - BKK are all TG Y). Not sure if UA will rebook me or force me to accept refund.

I don't think the 2nd daily SFO-HKG will ever come back, in the event of cancelation UA may reroute you if partner I cabin is open, better book routes currently running like EWR-NRT to make sure the it will stick.

If UA cancels, they will rebook you another flight. Adjusting partner flights are more difficult (if no UA option, then award space is needed, which UA can not force)

There is no issue with transiting in NRT, but there may be an issue with TG flying in and out of NRT. I am not 100% comfortable with TG keeping their daily NRT schedule with Japan being closed to tourism.

i saw the same issue but had options via ZRH or FRA/MUC for same miles - but for me based in NYC it was only a frw more hours flight time….

I always start search 1 way. Started with ORD-WLG, then expanded destinations one at a time- AKL, CHC, ZQN did not work. Then expanded origins LAS, LAX, SFO, PSP- none worked. DEN and ORD were only 2 viable for my origin.

Sadly I don't have those options for my dates. All options were TPAC.

There are more in CA at least, SJC etc . you also don't typically need to return to your origin, like you can't depart from SFO but can return.
