Split PNR online?
 
Is this possible anymore? Ive done it in the past but can't seem to get it right online.

How are you trying to do this? You can say 'I want to upgrade' and it will ask you whether you want all or just some pax. Once done it is split and that should be it.

I have a flight tomorrow with a companion and I might have to take a later flight same day.

Do I need to call to split or can it be done online using same day change?

Yes, UA removed the self-service feature to split. You need to call it in nowadays. It only takes them 1 minute to do it.

There's no longer an option to change flight for only one pax? (I.e. change my flight-->which passengers do you want to change flights for [select from those on PNR]-->proceed)

I was able to split online via same day change one passenger which was my original ask.
