Those are indeed nice photos although they could use some bar seating.
It seems like a lot of space for very few customers - hopefully they don't downsize it based on lack of use. |
I think the UC with the best and friendliest agents is GUM. The agents there are superb and handle IRROPs well and everybody is super friendly. But I do concede that not everybody has the opportunity or need to fly through GUM ;)

I had so many good memories of the CLE PC in the 2000s and early 2010s.

Adding to the chorus: The CLE agents -- which you can usually find in the UC and I'm a little surprised no one was in frame (did Carol duck? :D) -- are awesome -- not just good agents but good friends.

I made an effort NOT to get any faces in the images that I loaded for privacy reasons. Not sure if it matters but didn't know what FT policy was on this so better safe than sorry. But agree a great group of agents there for sure.

By far the best in the system!
Love the agents, the family room, the offices, everything! |
Let's not forget Margo. One of the most personable staff you can find and one of the nicest and most generous person in life.
Love the UC in CLE. As my home airport, I've used it since 1999. Yes, I do miss the days when it was a Continental PC but the staff stayed (for the most part) and it has always been a relaxing oasis in the middle of the airport. As others mentioned, the staff is INCREDIBLE at handling IRROPS and assisting with other issues. And it is nice to have a standing work option, cubicles and relaxing seating in abundance. So glad they kept it even after being de-hubbed. |

Geography might be an additional variable that needs to be addressed to confirm whether CLE qualifies under the broad category of “best”.
2021 Airports: ATL, CDG, DEN, FRA, GRU, HAM, IAH, LAX, LIH, MSP, MUC, SEA, SFO, SJD, SNA |
I remember the club back when it was a RCC (not that I was able to visit it that often) - and my sense is that UA fixed it up when they made CLE a mini-hub for a few years. When they closed the concourse they added on a few years ago and cut back their flights, the lounge use probably went way down - which is probably how they have been able to keep it looking nice (vs the recent comments about DEN or EWR). Shortly of closing it completely (please dont), I doubt there is any real financial benefits to scaling it down.... I do wonder about the lease deal?
I think there is a lot of international travel that starts in CLE given the Cleveland Clinic and I think BP still has a huge presence there..... although, last week I flew thru Cleveland and I didnt think it had re-opened post-covid...... |

its a shanda that they de-hubletted it. The club is excellent! Nice and large from the days Continental had over 1/3 of traffic in Cleveland. They really should reduce the size, but there likely isn't an incentive to do so. |

Prior to that it was a "Presidents Club" (prior to merger with Continental Air). It was great when CLE was a mini hub, I often traversed it in the day. I still have business and family there hence I pass through CLE regularly but almost never now on a connection. I am fairly certain that when the lease runs out on the space that unfortunately the CLE UC will be closed. I have a local friend who may know some of the details on the lease and that would be interesting to see how long it runs. I know the lease on some of the gates UA held in CLE have expired. Having recently been in the EWR clubs there is no comparison. Look at the comments on EWR UC thread, they are uniformly negative. The place (the one by gate 72) is quite honestly a joke including the "pop up" club. The DEN UCs I don't find too bad.
