Change in flight numbers (DEL-SFO)
Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but anybody know why they switched from UA 868 to 105 starting Jan 2021?

Switched back to UA105 I would say. That flight had been UA105 for a while, the detour into 8xx seems temporary?

A mystery indeed e.g.
UA 900/901 SFO-FRA-SFO changed to UA 58/59 ?? UA 916/917 IAD-FRA-IAD changed to UA 988/989 ?? Some time ago I think UA 900 was SFO-LHR, why, how?? And IIRC, TATL eastbound were even, westbound odd flight numbers. |

Even after the merger, the international flights' numbers retained PMCO and PMUA numbering, as the crews needed to stay on "their" planes until the contracts were merged. While that's not an issue now, I recall hearing that the PMCO and PMUA 777s are still segregated due to different parts and maintenance schedules. I wonder if the assigned 772 (GE vs PW) changed at the same time as the numbering, if so, perhaps that's the reason.
Perhaps they are reverting to PMCO flight numbering because of limited number of transoceanic flights? |

UA 48 (EWR-BOM) is now UA 829; BOM-EWR is 830 (instead of 49).
I find it interesting that they changed the Newark outbound to an ODD number and Newark inbound to an EVEN number. |
Does it actually fly east or west?
