2020 MP member kits discussion - contents, pics, actual delivery,...
I received my 2020 GS packet today. It includes the standard welcome literature and benefits summary; large and small luggage tags (Denver 2020), robin's egg blue United baggage handle, GS branded wireless charger, 9 employee service recognition cards, and 5 (only) drink vouchers. Didn't see a thread for this, but feel free to merge if appropriate.
Pleasantly surprised to see the return of the employee recognition cards, hopefully employees will get some kind of value from them upon receipt. Disappointed that they cut the number of drink chits in half. Enjoyed giving mine out as gifts to friends as well as fellow travelers. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d4be8b82e9.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3edc78b7bd.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b9b47f6c2a.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...deda860fdc.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a46dc595c4.jpg |
Here is a photo of the GS branded charger that is coming with the 2020 kits for anyone who is curious. 1K may have a different logo or same.

As disappointing as a cut to the drink chits is, I must admit FAs rarely accept them even if I order a double and even with a companion.

My experience is the same as yours. I think I'm still working my way through my 2016 ones... |
Wait, why would I want a Denver 2020 tag? Thats random. What if I want Newark (ok noone wants that.. but still)

As a Denver-ite, I'm looking forward to the Denver tags. I constantly get them ripped off (literally), stolen or otherwise disappear. The wireless charger is a nice touch and an interesting use of the GS marketing.
I might be actually looking forward to this recognition kit for once ! |
Are the tags specific to your "home" airport? Or just random?

"Employee recognition cards": a shame they don't/didn't provide them to 1Ks; those look pretty cool! ^
I would have used them, although maybe only one-out-of-ten flights! |

Not that I’d expect you to photograph it with your personal info, but is there no more physical membership card for any tier?

Next year’s city will be Cleveland I’m told. 😁

Has any lifetime GS received the GS kits?
|
Just got the GS charger as well. I’m curious what the 1K kits will have in place of the Global Services logo. Just a standard United logo?

I got a USPS informed delivery notification this morning, says package is from Glendale Heights IL. Will see if its the kit. Wasn't expecting any other packages.

Received the status kit yesterday - wireless charger and baby blue luggage wrap. Only one sheet of drink tickets - that expire 1/31/2022?

Got mine. Had drink certs, blue baggage handle, and new faux metal looking 1K card and bag tags.

I got my annual 1K kit in the mail today (~$32K PQD, ~170K PQM in 2019). Indeed, it included a wireless charger. Looks to be a basic made-in-China 5-watt Qi charger with minimalist branding. Given the slow charge speed I don't think I'll use it much. It's a nice gift but I think I would have preferred drink coasters again.
Also, interestingly, they included a sky-blue handle wrap. Are we moving away from yellow? Or differentiating 1Ks from GS maybe? https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bc04352a6f.jpg The customary drink coupons were included as well. And the new MP membership card and bag tags are reflective silver. |

Are MM companion 1K's also receiving the kit, or will I need to request a second blue handle wrap separately for Mrs tarheelnj?

Additional wraps can not be requested until February -- Robin’s Egg Blue UA handle wraps - No more yellow handle wraps? |

Received my 1K kit today. Pleasantly surprised to see they decided to mix things up this year and replace the coasters with the wireless charger; although both are basically useless to me. Also noticed that only 1 book of 5 drink coupons were provided, rather than the typical 3. Again, not a big deal, as I still have mine 2019 and likely earlier ones around here somewhere.
|
FYI about the wireless charger: It plugs into an outlet via a micro-USB connection, not USB-C like any new non-Apple smartphone. Which is irrelevant in my case, since my phone doesn’t include wireless charging.
|
I received my 1K welcome kit today as well. I like the wireless charger and now have it plugged into a wall outlet using an adapter. No coasters but I have 12 of them already so won't miss them.
As with recent years, there's an excessive amount of packaging, which many people just throw into the garbage and don't recycle. No need to pad the package with polystyrene, in my opinion. |
Re qualified for Plat in August, qualified for 1K in December after many years absence.
I received a Plat kit today  |

Received my 1K kit today. Already gave away the crappy charger... Would've preferred more drink tickets to give to soldiers.
