I just happened to see an article from the Paris Air Show that a "mystery" US airline is in talks to purchase Mitsubishi's new SpaceJet aircraft for service starting in 2023. Don't think it's a coincidence timing wise and the heavy space theme. Wonder if it's for a UAX partner? Would have to replace current aircraft because I thought they just announced they're maxed on UAX aircraft counts per scope clause. Does anyone else think this is a possibility?

This makes some amount of sense, although I don’t understand why any major regional carrier would want 15 MRJs. It’s too small of a fleet to be practical. Even if the seat configuration is the same as the E175, I doubt that pilots would be able to be rated on the MRJ and another variant simultaneously — so it seems that you’d run into quite a few IRROPS issues. But, given that the deal has apparently been signed, there’s about a 20% chance that it’s with UA. . (UA, AA, DL, AS, and then maybe one of NK/SY/F9/G4/B6 want to start regional service).

Given that UA is buying more E175s, presumably to support the conversion of CR7s into CR5s, this could make sense and further that project.

Yes after I thought about it I would concur 15 is too tiny to really do anything meaningful operationally. You could only run a really small handful of routes simultaneously and if one of those planes goes down....you're stuck.

In yet another enhancement to MP, saver award tickets will now be available only once in a blue moon.

ah yes - they are acquiescing and publishing an award chart again, except now city pairs will be bucketed into interstellar tiers with mileage requirements to match.

Kind of makes sense, IMO.

True. I bet they'll even start calling their business class something like "Stellar" or "Polaris" -- oh... wait...
