Every single time United teases some good news, we have the following outcomes:
1. the news turns out to be completely lame and makes the marketing campaign look even more ridiculous
2. the news turns out to be pretty decent, followed within 48-72 hours by a major "change that nobody likes" - a major decimation of the product, service or MP program
I am probably waiting for #2 - my guess, Kirby's lifelong dream comes true and Elite status is only earned on H fares and above.

Wouldn't be surprised if a 1969 ticket price, without inflation adjusting, would still be uncompetitive today. Airfare is amazingly cheap today.
