UA627 N26123 DEN-EWR "hard landing"@ EWR, runway disembarkment - 15 June 2019

They have shut down takeoffs and landings. My EWR-SFO flight is parked at the gate.

Thankfully everyone on that plane is OK:

Here's a photo from Twitter of the passengers leaving the plane.

Now they are deboarding my flight to SFO.

The flight that blew its tires was inbound from DEN.

Glad everyone is okay.. That's going to be a mess later... an hour of diversions will back up EWR for the rest of the day... add SWAP season on top of that :O

Did they touch down with the nose gear first?

I’m on UA2248 from PDX and we’ve diverted to MDT. No available gate so stuck on the tarmac. Captain indicated a 3pm status update.

My connection (UA1451 to TPA) is of course slipping so fingers crossed I’ll make it.

Will be interesting to see if it's a mx issue (corrosion, fatigue, etc) or plain old pilot error.

Captain has just announced that the airport has reopened. Now we just need fuel, then a time slot.

Of course, the really bizarre thing about this incident, is that there doesn’t seem to be an FTer on the flight.

There is a 9:29pm to TPA that is wide open. Hopefully you can get to EWR by then. Or PHL or JFK where you could get AA to Florida.

The inbound aircraft for 1451 diverted to IAD and is scheduled to take off again for EWR shortly.

Couple of random thoughts on this one... I really do not fly a lot anymore, mostly just EWR to LAS and back to see the grandkids and that will end in 2 weeks when we move to LAS full time...BUT, the last few trips landings have seemed a lot harder and hotter than normal in both airports.

Secondly, I sure am glad my kids took the redeye to IAD last night rather than going to EWR today. Sometimes family functions help out.

Glad everyone is safe and hopefully connectors get where they are going by the end of the day.

Doesn't look like it "skidded off the runway" to me, seems to be firmly on the hard surface.
