Interesting....flight was a 737 and now 757-200 with 17 of 28 F seats blocked.
Previous flights include LAX-PHX, SFO-LAX, LAS-SFO, SFO-LAS, BOS-SFO (and a bunch of PS flights).
Any idea what is going on?
Something is definitely strange. If you try to book that flight, it says United First (but C class) is available. It says it is A320 but seat chart shows PS 757.
Maybe just crazy overnight work?

Sounds like an aircraft swap to me. They may have had to cancel another flight to PHX or something and they up-gauged this one to compensate.

Looks like N512UA is flying SFO-LAS-SFO-LAX-PHX-SFO for these couple of days... hard to imagine the spare frame being an sUA p.s. bird though

I think time is relative It is rare to see a 757 in PHX since the merger settled.
I wonder if they are so tight with the 737s, they had to put in 757s.
UA has some very strange scheduling with PHX (and probably all over too). For example, a very early departure from SFO to PHX and huge gaps followed by 2 closely scheduled flights.
Interesting they release the blocked seats in F in stages. It was 17 blocked and now 4. Any idea why? Is it based on staffing?
I guess it is a nice treat for some short haul flying lower level elites to be on a PS F.

It’s likely that they cleared some upgrades. It’s definitely not based on staffing. Staffing depends upon the plane type and number of installed seats, regardless of the number of passengers.

I remember EWR-PHX being one of the routes that was supposed to get increased frequency in an announcement a few months back. I’d be surprised if that actually happens, but perhaps they très the 752 on it to ‘make up’ for the ‘enhancement’ in frequency.

We won't have to worry about that old terminal 2 for much longer. the new south concourse of terminal 3 will be opening soon and terminal 2 will be demolished.

I actually don't mind PHX T2. Rarely busy (at least when I fly), short walks and a UC. I agree that the concourse itself is ratty, though. I try not to spend too much time there.
