Not bad.
That's probably the best I've seen. How do I get that offer?

My last promo was 27,000 miles for 3 trips (min $500 spend).

I did 3 trips and spent $21,000. Worked out to $0.78/$1.00. I would have flown the trips anyway so United doesn't gain anything by offering me a promo but that doesn't mean I don't want the stars to align every once in a while.

1 trip, $200, 2500 miles.

As usual, I have enough travel that would qualify, but for the fact that it was booked a few months ago.

One other thing that I just thought of...have you considered just purchasing addt'l RDMs when you book another flight? They're usually offered at 3cpm, I believe, and you just bought a flight that's costing you roughly 4.6cpm (based on a guess that the flight actually cost you $250 or so). Again, just a thought!

[EDIT]I didn't count the fact that you'll get RDMs for the flight, and based on the fact that you're UA Platinum, you should be getting an addt'l 2061 RDMs for your 229 base fare, I believe. So, you'll be getting 7461 miles for ~$250. That's ~3.35cpm. Not bad all in all.[/EDIT]
SF based. 10000 miles after 2 trips at least $200 each. I can find SFO-ORD in two one-way tickets. Each costs $219 ($251 after tax). 13504 (10000+219*2*8) RDMs. I guess it is 3.37 cpm. Worth considering it?

The prior two offers were far better for me than this one. Measly 5k RDM for 2x premium cabin trips of $700+ each.

I actually booked (but then didn't get to travel on) an extra trip for the 42k RDM offered for Q1 (2x premium cabin trips of $800+). My Q2 travel was booked already and didn't qualify for the 20k+ RDm offer they sent (1x premium cabin trip over $900).

Not sure how UA determine what carrot to offer, but if I didn't complete travel for 42k RDM, why do they think I would book extra travel for 5k RDM?

Unfortunately, the account number you entered is not eligible for this offer. Again...

I am going to answer my own question. On a future itinerary which I bought 2 months ago, I was offered to pay $250 to get 10000 RDMs in Award Accelerator. The August 2018 Mile Pay promo to me suddenly does not make sense.

My offer is 2 x $250 flights and receive 14,000 bonus miles which seems reasonable. I may make this happen as I have 1 flight I need to book in the prescribed time period. My motto for these promotions, is either I do everything to qualify or I do nothing. I've no idea as to how they decide who gets what, they are obviously not targetting me in an effort to getting me close enough to qualify for status as I'm so far off it will never happen nor has it ever happened. I already only buy fares in First so they don't dangle that carrot either.

Book and take a trip in a premium cabin* ($700+) +6,700
Dine with MileagePlus DiningSM +300
Bonus: Complete both activities +16,000

My question - if I book economy class through work (say $550) and then upgrade myself at a cost of >$150, will this work for the premium cabin requirements?

My offer was to complete 3 trips to/from EWR with a minimum fare of $250 by August 12th to earn 2,500 miles.

If I up-fare an existing reservation that was booked prior to the start of this promo, will the new trip qualify for the promo?

Has anyone ever emailed UA to tell them how bad their deals are?

I'm a non-US MileagePlus member, so I've yet to be eligible for one of these offers, but UA's Japanese website thankfully had their own promo going on at www.unitedair.jp/summer2018

What's the qualification requirement, you ask?
  • Book an ex-Japan TPAC trip to be entered in a lottery, and 5 passengers will be drawn for each of the following:
    • 10000 RDM
    • a 777 model plane
    • two airplane-shaped fridge magnets
A fridge magnet? Really?

4 trips by 8/12, min fare $350/trip for 19,000 miles. Thing is, I have time and flexibility to do 4 trips, but not at this rate.
