Yeah. I wonder if they're faking credentials for a matchable status.

Great way to score a lifetime MP ban.

And have a look at the top of the page. "People who viewed this item also viewed...".

Seems you can buy pretty much any status you want.

The one negative review states
Fake credentials, will not work if reviewed by airline.

United really needs to get on top of this sort of thing. They should get the details of those who purchased from Ebay and cancel their accounts as they are basically committing fraud by paying $500 to this scammer to submit fake credentials. They should also put in a system with the other airlines to verify status and cancel accounts accordingly.

I would not try this with any US based airlines' FFP. They are very aggressive at banning accounts for life and I've even heard rumors of entrapment schemes to ban accounts. (airline employee buying GPUs, etc. on auction).

If someone really wants *G for $$ then AV sells it outright and TK is often available for sale via Elite Plus members.

FWIW - AA charges for challenge when you don't have anything to match.

Well, it sounds like these eBay sellers are likely providing falsified documents to United showing that you have status on another airline.

Certainly not worth $500, creating fake "proof" of status on another airline is pretty easy. Plus there's also the risk of a lifetime ban from MP.

It would be pretty stupid for anyone to do this, unless its a virgin account.
In that case, there is no risk.

Well apart from potentially facing criminal charges of fraud...

Wouldn't you still risk getting a lifetime ban even with a "virgin" account, ie don't they ban the person not the account?

You could use a nickname, middle name as last name, or something like that. The real problem is that when they ban the account, you’ll be down $500.

What could make sense (even though I don’t recommend it) are those $39 Thai Airways Star Alliance Gold listings, like this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Allian...IAAOSwX61ZF67P

Anyway, I, like everyone else, highly caution against doing any of this.

I don't expect a response or anything, but you never know:

And ouch, reviewing his feedback, it looks like a lot of people have paid a couple hundred EUR for AirBerlin upgrades in the past 6 months.
