GPU cleared, no email
Here's a weird thing. I am flying TLV-EWR in a couple of days and was checking flight status, and happened to notice that the seat I had booked - 16A - was showing as empty on the seat map. So I go into my reservation on the app, and it says that my upgrade has cleared. But I did not receive an email from United.
I was then able to go and select a BF seat and then phoned United to have the ticket re-issued as usual. Very happy that my GPU cleared of course! - but very odd that I got booted out of my seat without being given another one and without receiving an email... Has this happened to anyone else? |

My GPUs always have cleared at booking. CPUs I've had about 5 and maybe got notifications for 2 of them.

Be happy your GPU cleared! ^
Can't speak to GPU, but when using RPU's there nas never been a consistent email notification of upgrades clearing. Whenever I have an upgrade waitlisted I check every morning to see if it cleared. |
I had this happen to me a couple weeks ago. Agent said it was because of married segments. The married segment had cleared at booking.

I only consistently get an Email when my waitlisted GPUs on LH clear.

UA doesn't reliably or timely send emails for most things, and certainly not upgrades.
They're pretty good about new reservations. That's about it. |
Same here, upgrades often clear without an email. Seems like this should be easy to fix.

It would be nice if the app could push a notification whenever there is a change to the flight. Or it's time to check in. I would even settle for an hourly polling. The updates in the app are slow and provide no indication of changes. |

I receive emails for my CPUs but as another person mentioned up thread, all of my GPUs clear at booking. |
