Said FA has been relieved of her duties.

I'm amazed this wasn't posted earlier. Usually FT jumps right on these things.

I saw it on my newsfeed earlier but figured it would be long discussed here already.

Given the conditions that FA/GA/others work under in the US airline industry I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more often!

The ABC doesn't mention that she "bailed" like the JetBlue FA who then used the slide to get off the plane.

Here is the GMA/ABC report on it: https://www.yahoo.com/gma/video/flig...114544904.html

It was on the evening news (after talking about VX's Top Airline Quality win + ASVX merger) and had to chuckle.

Maybe she won the lottery?

It looks like the still managed to get the plane ready for its next departure yesterday. I assume they must be able to swap out the door+slide for a quick replacement?

IIRC, the slides come as a self-contained pack and are placed into the container, so after they disconnected the used slide, they needed to check for damage and then install the new slide pack (and sign off on all of the appropriate paperwork).

If that action isn't grounds for dismissal, I don't know what is.

BTW, are they billing her for replacing the slide?

In the video clip, it looks like the FA threw luggage out the door ahead of sliding down. Aren't you supposed to leave all carry-on bags behind when exiting the aircraft via the slides?

LOL ^

Somebody forgot to put the door to manual and someone else forgot to cross check.

transportbiz Apr 5, 2016 4:49 pm

Apparently there was also a medical emergency going on at the same time. I suspect, more will be learned, and it might be be such an open and shut case as has be adjudicated here.

NBC Nightly News just reported that the FA was terminated. No additional details.
