flight cost decrease within 24 hours of booking

what's the best way to go about this? normally i'd just go online and book the new flight and cancel the old, but i have reservations with petsafe to try to get our dogs on the same flight we're on and i don't want to screw that up...

well book the cheaper flight now because you get 24 hours from that

then call center, explain, and see if you can get fee waived. as a silver you're not owed this but perhaps you can get a helpful agent who would waive.

Umm, within 24 hours, it's a free cancel. No waiver or elite status needed.

that was much easier than i expected...called the regular 800 number, they transferred me to premier desk - got the difference refunded, same confirmation number. whole process took about 10 minutes (it took longer for me to get thru the stupid automated system than for her to issue the new fare)...

correct but transactions handled through a call center incur fees.

Only the original booking, not changes on paid tickets.

Not for this. With the PetSafe piece, it must be handled through the call center and thus there are never any fees.

If you do this yourself, it is not a refare, but a cancellation and then the purchase of a new ticket. It takes an agent to refund the fare difference and reissue.
