Some good deals on UV, but the website is awful. It did not insert my email into the last reservation. but was able to confirm everything went through and send myself confirmations. But if there were to be any issues, do they usually contact people by e-mail? I sent an email to CS a week ago at UV, but no response yet.

If I book a ticket through United Vacations am I able to upgrade the fare or does it default to BE? I am looking to book flights to London and am thinking of adding on a hotel. However, I wanted to ensure I can upgrade the airfare.

United Vacations Bulk Fare fees after airline cancels flight

I had bulk tickets through a United Vacations package going to Costa Rica. When the travel ban happened, the flights were cancelled. United Vacations will only refund with a $300 pp fee, which is $1200 in this case. Otherwise they are only offering a credit for the full amount of the flights and hotel, which was refundable. United Vacations has waived their fees for my travel date to Costa Rica, but is is trying to pass the $300 pp as an airline fee and not their fee. In sum, United Vacations has offered only a credit for the cost of the entire vacation in the amount of $7000, or a refund minus $$1200. Does anyone have any insight on these fees and who is actually charging them? United Vacations or United Airlines? How can United Vacations keep the payment when my hotel is refundable?

Remember United vacations is not run by United.

but in this instance, I would demand the full refund. If denied, seems a really good case to do a CC dispute.

United Vacations is an independent travel agent.
So best to start by looking at the original terms of your purchase with them to determine what you agreed to at purchase.
Travel agents can have different fees in addition to the providers -- airlines, hotels, .....

file a CC dispute. They are nor rendering the services you paid for so a refund is the way to go.

Does anyone know how to get special help for a flight and hotel package booked on United Vacations? I've tried calling, get transferred to Priceline, then the issue is escalated but never receive a follow up. My international trip is coming up soon. The short story is that I booked airfare and hotel but the hotel reservation did not push through to the hotel. As of now, I only have airfare for my family and even though I have a confirmation number for hotel from United Vacations/Priceline the hotel has no record of the stay. The trip is coming up in three weeks so I'd like to get this resolved.

I've tried emailing some United customer service contacts from Elliott.org but it has been a week without a response.

United Vacation is not own or operated by United Airlines. It is a third party travel agency that advertises on united.com. So United Airlines will not be able to help you in this situation with hotel issues.
Other airlines have similar third party TAs on their sites. Southwest used the same TA, ALG Vacations Corp.

A company you can trust
United Vacations is the leisure vacation package product for United Airlines and is operated by ALG Vacations Corp. ALG Vacations Corp. is a privately held company headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has been fulfilling millions of vacation dreams with unparalleled customer care and at exceptional value for over 40 years
and it appears Priceline is their back office

If Priceline is no help, try ALG Vacations Corp.

Priceline is the “Packages” option on United.com. Apple Leisure Group doing business as United Vacations is the “vacation” provider, but it seems like they are trying to move away from ALG, because finding the link on the site is quite difficult. Priceline and ALG are NOT related.

That explains why United is so slow to get on this. I wrote a long e-mail, too, detailing my long hold times (multiple calls over 2 hours on hold) and their agents being unable to find my reservation despite me forwarding the original confirmation e-mail with United Packages/Vacations/ALG/Priceline confirmation number, flight number, and hotel confirmation number.

Their canned response is below which I have received two times now.

"Good Morning, Dear,

Hope you are doing well, safe and healthy.

Thank you for contacting United Vacations.

We really apologize for the delay in response. We have tried to locate your reservation by using your email address. We are unable to retrieve the information. Can you please provide the 8 digits alpha-numeric reservation number so that we can assist?

If you unable to locate the 8 digit aplha-numeric booking confimation number. We would suggest you to call us.

Please call into customer care and our team will be glad to help. We can be reached at 888-854-3899. Call Center hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Central Standard Time.

Do you guys know if I can get United to give me a quote for the airfare I have already purchased through ALG? It's business class and four seats and the cabins are full save for one or two seats. I want to cancel the whole ALG trip and just book the airfare through United and the hotel directly. What's terrible is that I purchased a two bedroom suite that there is only one of on the property and now it's unavailable for two nights of our seven night trip. What a hassle.

If you book United vacations flight plus hotel and you want your itinerary for the flights to be 30 days could you just book only one night at a hotel to qualify for the fare?

Sure - the website provides that flexibility. Somewhere under there is Expedia.

Thanks I couldn’t see how to do that? I guess I’ll play around a little bit more, otherwise I’ll call tomorrow

update: I found out how to do it, it’s under advanced search. I think I found something that’s pretty good for my quest to 1K and PQP earnings

Vacation Packages on United App

Has anyone managed to use this successfully??

I decided to search for PHX-DAD, hoping to get a decent fare that would post as a bulk fare (would it?)

1. If I select 1 adult, 1 room, the are no search results. I have to add a 2nd traveler to see anything.

2. The only options are economy or basic economy. No premium econ, no business.

3. It gave me hotels in Da Nang, but the flights were all to and from SYX (which is in China). The good folks at UA are aware that all Asian countries aren't the same, right? Admittedly it's as close as you can get to Da Nang without leaving China, but I was kind of hoping to fly all the way there.

cfischer Apr 16, 2022 6:41 pm

Pretty big assumption that UA will offer travel packages to such a remote airport in all classes of service. Generally when UA flies there or there is JV codeshare these work well.

Fares may be bulk fares or not. I they are a lot cheaper they are almost always bulk.
