A week or 2 before I was #5, T- 3 days 2 people bought up, T-2 days 2 people vanished from upgrade list, same amount of seats left so not upgraded. Y was full.
First CPU for me.

CPU cleared T-24 (we were #4/5 on upgrade list with 9 available seats), reservation is now split due to the order of processing upgrades.
10h before flight, equipment swapped from 737-900ER to 737MAX8 which has 1 less row of First. We had seats in the last row so our seats are now unassigned, "See Agent". Fare Class still shows PZ. thoughts and prayers, my first CPU in 1.5y of United status:(

since that post I missed a call from United, voicemail was asking if I was flexible. I didn't call back but shortly after a couple seats opened on the seat map one by one and I assigned them to myself and my companion. Guessing a couple others were offered something and took it. We are pleased to have the seats.

United was proactively trying to re-accomodate people in the FC cabin as it was now overbooked by 2 (assuming the flight was J2) when the equipment swapped. You likely missed a $300-500 voucher to either go back to coach or take a different flight in first. Glad you got an upgrade as a silver, with a companion to boot!

Does 1K Instant upgrade count as CPU? If so, here are my wife's (also 1K) upgraded flights for an international trip. I bought PremPlus fare for her. The domestic flights are in B class. The biggest shocker is IAD-SFO cleared about 3 months out.
ORF-IAD cleared at purchase; DEN-ORF cleared a week later and IAD-SFO cleared two weeks later. The remaining WL segment is SFO-DEN.
