Post Feb 1, 2015: Did your Premier Status Increase, Decrease or remain the same?
1K to Plat, finished with about 85k pqm, but decided to travel on a few other carriers since i wasn't going to chase the pqd (wife went from 1K to barely gold) and burned through a big chunk of miles on 2J rewards to Africa and 2F rewards to asia (pre-deval)
|
Maintained my 1K status by doing a dollars run in mid-December. Hadn't anticipated going for it but several international trips got me close enough to try - my PQD for last year was $10,014.
I'm solely a leisure traveler so with the higher PQD requirements I won't be going for 1K again. My goal for 2015 is to hit Lifetime Gold (or at least get very close) and be able to leave all thoughts of PQDs behind me. My main reason for wanting Lifetime Gold is to always be able to select E+ seats at booking. In general, I am pleased with the service I get on board. Sure, some crews are better than others, but I can't really complain. I was extremely fortunate and only had one IRROPS trip result in an overnight. Even though it was weather, I got a free hotel room since I'm 1K. I only flew AA once last year (no good way to get to Florida from DC on *A) |
remained plat
|
Maintained 1K pqd not an issue with the routings and international bf flights I take regularly for work.
IAH based |
Same - 1K, although I think this will be last year of qualifying for it. I can stretch to $12K, but since I travel sort of on my own dime, that's looking like a limit. I'll have lifetime Gold beyond January 31 2017, for whatever that's worth at that time.
|
Global Services (5 years) to 1K. PQM > 100K, PQS > 120, BIS ~ 70K, PQD way above 1K requirement, but not impressive enough for GS review. All was premium cabin. Offered a GS challenge so hoping 2015 goes as follows: 2014 GS --> 2015 1K --> 2015 GS in three months.
|
1K to Plat.
Didn't have as much travel in 2014 as in 2013. |
1) Same (2013/2014 Gold)
2) Barley make Gold each year 3) No MR, but needed the Chase waiver (spend was about $700 down) 2016: Lost a Europe business trip this year, may have to do a MR. |
Gold to Plat
Gold to Plat. Gold wouldn't have been a problem. With severely reduced saver award availability for a couple flights, I decided to fork over cash instead for the bump up in status. Best case, I'll qualify gold this year.
|
Same. 1K.
|
Plat -> Gold due to fewer BIS miles, about half UA and half other *A.
|
From Gold to nothing.
After 8 years of UA elite, switched flying to DL out of Chicago due to reliability and poor customer service treatment. I'm happy connecting via DL and knowing that my flights will get in ontime. Would rather have a layover and trust I'll get in at scheduled time than nonstop on UA and being anxious (and treated badly). |

Plat to 1K.
2014, One trip to Asia in Business Class added 26K PQM and $6K PQD. 2015, 25K PQM from one trip to Asia in Business Class. Good chance I'll maintain 1K. |
Same 1K
|
1K to Plat. I met the PQM, but did not hit the PQD requirement. I'm only Platinum thanks to Chase CC waiver.
|
Same - Gold. Just barely. :)
|
GS to 1K
My multi-year project in APAC is over. I made gold, but United soft-landed me to 1K. |
(1) Status remained the same (1K to 1K).
(2) No. (3) N/A (4) Status remained the same for two reasons - I'm hub captive for my routes (EWR based, don't like DL at all, AA don't fly where I want); Mileage Plus redemptions (ability to fly LH FC, saver awards) + GPU's are still a big drawcard for me to United. This year (2016) I will likely lose 1K, I feel.

Have been a 1K since 2011. Had 150K miles last year on 13k spend.
I know I am going against the flow here. But My GPUs always clear and never go to waste. I am very happy about that! CPUs not so much but it is a business and I understand. Few things get on my nerves from time to time but overall very happy with United but I am not at all happy about the new mileage rules starting March 1st :( Will be staying with United as I am pursuing the 1 MM mark mostly because partners such as Lufthansa, Air China and Turkish go to places I wanna go to. |

There is no "flow" here to go against. This thread is a POLL. Persons are simply reporting their status for 2015 and giving short responses why.

Silver (2014) to Gold (2015). In 2014, 37% PQM on UA. 63% on *A flights. Mostly international. UA and *A offer the most convenient options in SFO.
Has United Club Visa to meet PQD requirement. |
Decrease Gold to Silver
Reason: United flight schedules/costs at home airport (IAD) are less often superior or equal to alternatives. |
Status remained the same - Platinum
about 80k miles has just been about average for me over the last 4-5 years, whether I have overseas business class travel or exclusively domestic. Go figure. |
Still 1K
|
1K -> Plat
|
My husband and I are still 1K and plan to qualify for 1K next year. Managed to use all GPUs. We flew about 120,000 miles last year
We are captives of the LIH-SFO route, so we are pretty stuck on United. Flying almost monthly to "America". PQD were about 20K last year, thanks to some C class travel to europe. Not sure how it will go this year |
Gold in 2014, stayed Gold in 2015. I had to do some mini-MRs (BWI-BOS in four segments, four example), but consider it worth it right now.
|
Increased from silver to platinum.
Reason: Business travel included an unusual amount of trips to the West Coast, plus a vacation to HNL. Will likely drop back down to silver or maybe gold in 2016. |
1K --> 1P MM
|
Plat to Gold. Just missed on PQM but missed by a fair amount on PQD. Don't expect to be able to make increased PQDs for Plat for next year either....
|
Partner and I each dropped from Plat to Silver for 2015.
Lost revenue on * carriers and conscious decision to fly most convenient instead of chasing status on UA. |
Still 100% leisure 1K
|

Couldn't meet the PQD requirements. Spent more in 2014 compared to 2013 but fell to Platinum anyways. Stopped flying at 88K miles because chasing PQD wasn't worth it. |
1) Same - GS
2) GS 3) no change 4) 8-10+ Int'l RT C/J flights a year help. |
Silver (2014) - Gold (2015).
I had to use about 3k from my flexmiles to make Gold. Only reason I was close was due to an extra trip from EWR-SIN this year. Have PQD waiver because of PresPlus Credit Card. |
1K to Plat.
First time not a 1K since the merger. Just didn't do the miles in 2014 (hit about 78k versus 170k in 2013). Surprisingly, meeting the PQD requirement wasn't an issue at all. A little scary seeing that number and realizing how much money goes to UA out of my checking account every year! |
Stayed 1k no change, all flights booked for 2015, so 2016 will be 1k, also will be mm which will take effect in 2017
