I hope MP offers Intra Asia CPU again

Still nothing regarding the partner earnings?

UAL Insider...any news? The website still says "later this year" but there's not much time left in the year for me to be able to decide if I should switch to MP or not. Or for that matter for your members to book flights into early March/April so that they know who to pick and fly with.

I'm sure it's low on the priority scale but for me personally, this is the only thing left that matters.

+1, this really stinks that we haven't heard yet.

Think of it this way though - assume that they decimate the chart to something approaching what we see for CM and bulk tix...you wouldn't want to switch to that MP, right? I'd just assume the worst if I were you.

I am assuming that, however, with Aeroplan already "there" switching to that MP might not make much of a difference. If they kill mid-range fares though I'm sticking with AP. In the end for my purposes it seems MP points are worth more (as in mid/short haul seem to be cheaper than AP and of course have no YQ). I'm probably safe to switch to MP and I'm really hoping they don't destroy the program, there's just no reason a cheapo ANA fare like the one I have in Feb should earn 100% realistically when it doesn't on other programs.

That said I don't know the behind the scenes stuff on these programs and who pays how much and for what.

speechless

Not a single year without making this program less attractive. I wonder how those losers don't feel a little bit of shame by announcing less benefits and more burdens every year. I would have more respect if they proposed the following: 2 tiers, MileagePlus regular status, no benefit apart from miles, and Global Services, at their discretion.

Why would they feel shame?
Profits are through the roof, and so are their bonuses.

Well, if you see it that way, they can even stop maintenance on their fleet and serve rotten food, make more profit and get even higher bonuses and, when the company falls apart, get a new job. Some managers do that way.

I've been 1K every year since 1998, and either PPS Club Gold on SQ or Diamond on CX as well since 2000 or so. YTD miles on United: 3,000. I've had it.

I am not a mileage-run schemer (not that there's anything wrong with that) or an "over-entitled" flyer; I've been loyal and paid extra to direct flights onto UA for predictability of service and a few perks - and I rarely even redeem miles for flights! I would have no problem meeting the PQD standards easily.

But I am tired of steadily-diminishing service, BS excuses, and an attitude that seems to assume that we won't notice all these "enhancements" (to the airline, not just MP) go in one direction only. At this point I can fly CX more cheaply internationally than UA, and as a Diamond I'm treated much better. UA SWUs are basically useless now. And for domestic travel, AA is treating me far better as a OW Emerald than UA does as a 1KMM.

It is sad to go, and I'll miss the lovely people at United, but enough is enough.

I have not visited this Forum since July. I guess I did not miss anything positive.

As a longtime CO OnePass Elite before lifetime MP 1K, I am disgusted by the constant devaluation of benefits by MP.

My strategy for the future: win the MegaMillions jackpot and then fly VX... winning the jackpot seems much more likely than MP increasing any benefits for Premier members instead of cutting them.

A positive spin

I've been away from the board for a bit but I must admit my surprise that so many elite flyers are upset with the change. Personally, I'm loving it. Most of my travel is international so I will be earning likely 2 to 3 times as many award miles as before.

UAL Insider, please pass along my thanks.

You're GS, so your employer (I'm guessing) pays for C internationally? Not surprising you're happy with the change - you're part of the small slice of flyers that are doing better. The vast majority aren't. :-:

Ditto, but I think 1k's are going to be pleasantly surprised too. I firmly believe they are separating GS and 1k from the rest which will "actually" feel like they are doing the right thing for some of us.

Couldn't disagree more, sorry...IMO the gulf between 1K & GS, in terms of benefits and UA attitudes/behaviors towards each respective status level, has never been greater.

Bonus for flying non-UA

So, do the elite bonuses remain for non-UA flights?

Dieuwer Dec 4, 2014 6:43 pm

Delta's partners earnings tables are out. Complete gutting across the board. United will follow, as usual... :p
